When T.Chandler returns: Should he start?

Post#1 » by cavsfan_osiris » Thu Jan 21, 2010 4:38 am

The team has pretty good chemistry defensively and offensively right now. Nazr has filled in pretty well. I've always thought he was an under-appreciated big. He's the definition of serviceable.

Nazr has a much better all round offensive game than Chandler also. I've seen enough to say he fits in better with the starters than T.Chandler.

The Cats should bring Chandler in easy off the bench, replacing Diop's role. He's also very injury prone. He doesn't deserve to be the starter. It would be more risky to bring him back and start him cold than it would to bring him in off the bench.

Coming off the bench doesn't necessarily mean Nazr gets more playing time. Sometimes people assume that's what will happen.

The better question is, "Should he play?"
Humble yourself.

Diop does little things that help the team, but T.Chandler should be an upgrade. If he's not then no, he should not play. Bringing him in off the bench would be the perfect way to find that out.

Fats said it best last week.

Bring Chandler in as our back up PF.

When T.Chandler returns: Should he start?

This can't be a serious question. He's not in shape and he's gimpy.

TC/Gana probably couldn't go against most teams because everyone's running with undersized PF's now. The other team would just go small. Often the Cats go small themselves with:

Felton
Murray
Jackson
Wallace
Diaw

They don't need to rock TC/Gana together unless it's a special matchup, especially because both of those guys are terrible offensively. Tyson should just try to fill the role Diop has been in recently. If he can't produce better than Diop he should just ride pine.

Absolutely not. He can play some spot minutes until he demonstrates he is not terrible anymore, and then it scales from there. Most likely though, he stays gimpy and terrible and shouldn't play more than Ajinca minutes.

Limited minutes only. If he keeps sucking or has a negative impact on our game, trade him please.

Unfortunately I think Chandler's gonna hug that protective boot until the trade deadline passes. I would love to get him healthy enough to contribute, either off the bench or starting, depending on his ability to play and perform. Nazr is playing pretty well, better than TC for sure, but I fear he will break down with the large number of minutes. Playing time has been an issue all year with Nazzy.

Frankly, our bench strength is too weak, and if Chandler can get to playing decent, he helps us in one way or another.

I tell you this. Ajinca needs to either produce and help us, or get traded for a big that can play now. It's RIDICULOUS to have a project PF floundering around when we need a player in the worst way. Let some talent-wealthy team take a gamble on him (I'm convinced he's never going to be much more than a 12th man at best) and give us one of their DNP's who can play.
I continue to wait...and hope...for the return to Hornet's glory.

make TC earn his way back into playing time and/or starting role.
