BTW, at least we had a sellout tonight.
Humble yourself.

But it's not good to lose a winnable game in front of a sellout home crowd.
Anyway, I hope they'll win the next two games before the All Star Weekend.

and the worst part of the night... i got to the game at 6:15 (very early) and i still didnt get a wallace action figure. damn you bandwagon fans.

.... and i have tried to remain positive about diaw for a long time. tonight was the last straw. i have never been so mad at a player. he is pathetic. he is a giant P-word. scared to take shots. its like watching ammo (hot potato version) all over again. how many open shots did he pass up tonight? how does brown allow him to stay on the floor when he plays so passive. its killing us.
i'll give a pass to wallace tonigt. he obviously wasnt 100%. he walked around at half speed all game.

i have only seen felton look really bad on defense twice this season. the first time was our home game vs the pacers when tj ford had his way with ray all night. obviously tonight was number two. felton seems to really struggle with these lightning quick guards.

Call me crazy, but I think they might be onto something......
larry and his love for this small lineup is killing us at times. sure, that lineup has played well, usually, but god damn, it doesnt work against every team. you gotta be able to adjust. not playing nazr in the 4th was insane. diaw was horrendous tonight.

EO50 has always struggled against bigs who are long and have a mid range J - which is what Nazzy is.
Dont discount vengence. He thinks he's better than Okafor but had to sit behind him ever since he became a Bobcat. Now is his chance to show Okafor who is better. And he is taking care of business.
i know i am biased... contract aside... i wouldnt trade nazr for okafor. i think nazr is better.

it was a decent reception. he didnt get booed or anything. nowhere near as warms as the reception tyler hansbrough got when he came to town though. former unc>>>>> former bobcats. shame.

BRAVO FATS!!

There is no defending a player who plays the minutes he does and produces so little. Everybody wants to focus on his "skills", but that's like admiring the pretty girl who's frigid.
I wish we could package him with Law for a starting PF and a swing guy, say Hill and Jefferies from NY (heck, I'd probably swap DJ for Law in that deal). Hill needs grooming but he and Jefferies together CANNOT be worse than our current strategy at the 4 (Diaw and a body).
I continue to wait...and hope...for the return to Hornet's glory.

See, this is the thing that drives me nuts. He's not awful, not at all. He has an amazing skill set and could be SO perfect for our system/set up, but he is SO FRACKING PASSIVE. I was screaming at the TV last night with some of the kick outs he did rather than layups he should have tried.
I would rather him go 1/10 from the floor trying layups rather than be so damn passive when it comes to taking shots.

Hill played over 18mins last night and pulled down ZERO rebounds.
Can't imagine it would take you too long to sour on him pretty quickly!

Re: GT: Sat Feb 6 7PM Welcome Home Okafor!!!
Well, BigSlam totally called it. I was honestly expecting an easy win last night... you know with them being without their star player and with us being at home, where we've been great. I think I was so wrapped up with that along with the fact that they're really not that good of a defensive team and with their older and slower players out on the wings, we would try to exploit those match-ups.
In the end, I think our offensive performance wasn't all that bad, but it was on the defensive end where we really blew. I don't think you can really say anyone played a good game on that end of the floor. They were lighting it up from all areas of the court and from all positions. We had a defensive rating of 113.0 last night, which is worse than what the Raptors average. Clearly Crash was not 100% last night and we might have been better off not having him play as much minutes. I would have loved to have seen UPS out there, Peja was just lighting it up over our wings, and with his length I think he would have been best suited to guard him the most effectively.
As for Diaw, I would definitely like to see become more aggressive on the offensive end but I really don't mind him passing up threes. My biggest problem with him last night was mostly on the defensive end. As for Flip Murray, is this guy the worst free-throw shooting shooter in the league? 0-5 at the line... from a shooting guard that loves to shoot. I swear if he could knock them down there would have been a totally different outcome to the game.

Re: GT: Sat Feb 6 7PM Welcome Home Okafor!!!
thats the frustrating part with diaw. he is so skilled its sick. the over the top pass he made to wallace for the layup was beautiful. but he mixes 2 great passes in with possession killing passes. ideally we could keep him and play him 25 mins (or more when he is aggressive).
i blame a lot of this on LB. coach is letting him get away with it. diaw plays like crap for 3 games and still gets 40 mins. lb refuses to bend with his 4th quarter rotation, even when its not working. he did it twice vs sacto and he did it again last night. nazr should have been back in the game (along with dj). LB has to be tough and sit diaw on the bench when he passes up wide open shots. where is the accountability? i expect more from a great coach.

Re: GT: Sat Feb 6 7PM Welcome Home Okafor!!!
with crash walking around all game we were effectively playing 4 on 5 for much of the game. i give him credit for trying to play, but i think he hurt us last night. again, lb should have realized crash was not 100% and sat him.
and hats off to the hornets who hit some tough shots in that 4th quarter. mo pete, posey, peja, west and collison all hit some ridiculous shots down the stretch.

Not defending Diaw at all, but recently found out he is top 5 for all forwards in assists this year.
If he could just be solid in all the other facets of his game, he would be vital for this team.

easy to rack up assists when you play 40 mins and refuse to shoot.

It's sad, but this is basically "bad Diaw," the one we traded for. We got one great year, and now he's back to awful, exactly the same way Phoenix did.

Re: GT: Sat Feb 6 7PM Welcome Home Okafor!!!
yeah i remember reading the same complaints on the phoenix forum.
they thought he just lost his confidence because he went back to starting on the bench, but its obviously just they way he is.
if/when we trade him, he will probably play great for his new team for a bit, get them excited for a bit before changing back into Bad Diaw.
I've seen sportsman do it in other sports, play great for the first year with a new team and then seem to lose enthusiasm from then on until they are again traded and then the cycle starts again.

Re: GT: Sat Feb 6 7PM Welcome Home Okafor!!!
Perhaps he is just a low-motivation player, and that's all there is to it. That's pretty much a miserable conclusion though, because we're going to be paying him 9m a year for another 2 seasons after this stinkbomb.
