Will Bobcats resign Hughes-they better

Post#1 » by Dexmor » Mon Mar 15, 2010 11:33 pm

Hughes said he wanted to go to the Bobcats not just for one year but to resign there. I am hoping his agent talked to the Bobcats people and they told him they would like him for a couple years.
Now you all know I have been a fan of Hughes and have made 100 Hughes to Bobcats post in the past 2 years but on the espn board they are convienced Hughes is just for this year.

Do you guys think they will resign him? I know it depends on his play but assuming he plays like Larry Hughes do you see him here next year.

I think Brown has a 75% chance of staying so assuming he does he is gonna want that third pg or that bench guard who is a combo guard which Hughes is. We still lack scoring and should not let Hughes go. He can lower Jackson and Wallace''s minutes and is what LB talks about in guys who can play multiple positions. He can probable be resigned for pretty cheap and will be one of the few Bobcats that can create. They saw they were missing something when Murray was gone and Hughes is better then that.

So my question is do you see them resigning Hughes? He was drafted by Brown and brought in now by MJ twice.

I say a 2 year 6 million dollar deal or a 3 year 9 million dollar deal. He is only just turned or about to turn 31.

I think he really completes them. They realy so much on Jackson ability to create that if he were to miss a few games they would need Hughes. He wouldn't take away pt from Hendo or Graham either as all 3 of those guys can play multiple positions.

Hes only 31, but hes about as healthy as a 35-36 year old and his shooting accuracy makes you think hes about 50.

Also, how about he actually plays a game before the team decides on any kind of commitment.

He's still pretty athletic. Can't judge him by the Knicks year. Everybody sucks on the Knicks (almost)
Even before Mike D came there and went crazy.

Getting steals doesn't equal defense. Also, 1.5 steals in 31.2 minutes a game (lifetime) isn't even that great.
I haven't been impressed with him, even moderately, since he was a Wizard. His shot selection is an all out joke. You are going to shoot in the low 40s/high 30s overall from the field, at least try to shoot near the mid 30s from the 3 pt line.

Basically he needs to prove a lot, and at least play in a game for the Bobcats, before I think the team should even consider him as a backup guard for next season.

Then there is this;
1st two years in the NBA he plays 132 games out of 133 (50 games rookie year, 83 games 2nd season).
then
3rd year, misses 32 games.
4th year, 15.
5th year, 19.
6th year, 20.
7th year, 45.
8th year, 12.
9th year, 14.

last season and this season I'm not sure. Players miss games, but that is too consistent. Like I said, 31 year old in a 35 year old body.

Lets wait and see how he does in a bobcats uniform before we decide to resign him or not

Yeah have to see how he does first before giving him a deal in 2010. Plus, we have more things to worry about (Felton, TT) first before getting into Hughes.

Not to change the subject, but if Maccabi Tel-Aviv signs Larry Hughes to a contract next year...does Dexmor get credit?
