Magic fan here. Just wanna say that I respect the Bobcats as a team, but to say Howard is a crap offensive player just shows that you dont know what youre talking about. I mean jeez, the guy lead the league in FG%. He is a beast and always steps it up a few notches in the playoffs. Even without him, this team is so deep, they could make it to the ECF. You guys are a couple years away but definitley on the right track. Good luck guys.

He's a crap offensive player. He's an unbelievable athlete with amazing coordination and quickness for a man his size, but he is a crap offensive player.

Al Jefferson is a good offensive player. Chris Bosh is a good offensive player. Brook Lopez is good offensive player. Chris Kaman is a good offensive player.

To say Howard is a good offensive player just shows that you are a Magic fan.

Perhaps it would be more accurate to say that he has crap skills, rather than being a crap offensive player.

Howard does, in my opinion, have enough moves that he'd just straight-up overpower Tyrus. He'd have his way completely in terms of positioning, and that little hook is all he really needs in that circumstance.

How about we settle with: He is a crap offensive player but is still effective on that end?

we won't lose this series because of Howards offense or their 3pt shooting, if we lose it will be because Howard will dominate us on the glass. Taj Gibson owns this team on the glass, so what will Howard do. Frankencenter better learn to box out and not bat the damn ball in the air when it comes near them. Boris needs to wear his rebounding shoes too.

He's not a crap offensive player, I'm not sure why anyone would think that. If he was on this team I'd post him up every single damn time.

If you post him up get him the ball and expect him to create for himself he has that running hook across the lane which is hit an miss.................and that's about it. Outside of that he dunks a lot (leads the league I think) and gets offensive boards (4 a game)

It's not like he has drop steps or counters or uses a series of fakes etc.

It's like saying Greg Oden is some sort of offensive wonder. He's not. Like Dwight he is just bigger or stronger or quicker or more athletic or more coordinated than any other big man.

So I say challenge that. Have him trying to shoot that running hook over the shot blocking of T2 and see how that goes.

I dunno, he seems to hit that at a high clip against us. I think the key to shutting him down on offense is to attack him when he's on defense. The goal should be to draw fouls from him #1, get him frustrated and out of the flow and then make your move. I'd also rather have Howard beat us then let Carter/Lewis/Pietrus/Nelson/Barnes/JJ Redick bomb us with open 3's.

I agree. We will definitely need the GW rebounder from the 1st half of the season. Not only that, but teams have been zoning us lately. We really struggle with the zone.

Ugh the zone, they will go to the zone quickly in this series I bet. We better be ready to move the ball, spread the floor, and beat it. If DJ is on his game he could make them change their mind if he hits a few 3's while they're in zone.

Hey guys,

Magic fan here. Since the Magic boards are so crowded these days and no one reads or responds to my posts I think I might just chill here, if that's cool.

I've seen around 30 Orlando games this year and I haven't seen any type of zone defense with them, so that probably won't be an issue. The way Howard lurks around the paint is sort of like a one man zone though.

Howard gets a lot of crap for not having a developed offensive game but he is capable of dominating games based on just his strength. His offensive arsenal hasn't exactly expanded much this year (he added a funny looking 15 foot jumper that he banks in from time to time) but the moves he has (spin move, hook shots) have gotten much better. He's also gotten very good at passing out of double teams, on point to the numerous shooters on the Magic. They're all rhythm shooters as well, so a perfect pass definitely helps the 3 point percentage.

The teams that he struggles against (Lakers, Celtics) usually play him one on one rather than double team. Would the Bobcats double team or just let their big boys play him solo?

If Tyson, and the other centers can manage to guard him without much help then that should keep each game very tight. In the last 5 minutes of the game Magic rely on Vince heavily so how he fares against Jackson's D will be a key point in the close games.

Locking this now in prep for the actual GT to kick in.

I'll edit the title to Round #2 after today's game and re-open it to discuss Wed's game.
