Trade I Make Right Now
Reportedly Golden State is willing to part with Biedrens and Monta Ellis. They don't need Monta with Curry anointed as THE MAN, while Biedrens availability has gotten the attention and pursuit from Denver. If they'd do it I'd gladly offer Chandler and Diaw for both players. Heck I'd add a 1st round pick in 2015 if necessary.
Monta becomes our PG and the 3rd man in our triangle of terror (Crash, Jax and Monta). Biedrens, when healthy, is a capable starting 4, a quality rebounder, and he's ONLY 24 years old. Yes we tie up $20M in both over the next 4 seasons, but I'm willing to bet on those guys to carry this team to a higher level in that period (with Crash Jax and T2) than any other likely option.
Why for the Warriors? It certainly isn't the best offer they could probably get, but they do clear Monta from the log jam, and have a capable 5 as a starter who is an expiring. Diaw would be a valuable player in their system playing primarily at the 3 spot. With lots of options at the 4, GS could make another deal with a different team to deal an asset. Ultimately the Warriors clear a TON of cap space next year, giving them infinite flexibility to sign a premier free agent or two.
PG - Monta, DJ
SG - Jax, Hendo
SF - Crash, UPS
PF - T2, Jinx
C - Biedrens, Nazr

Biedrins is small for a center, raw offensively, he's a good rebounder and shot blocker and that's it. Tyson Chandler is the same but at least he's a seven footer. I still think a scoring big man makes this team much better, Biedrins doesn't fill that need in the post.

Re: Trade I Make Right Now
I'm really not a fan of Biendres. I feel like that guy got overpaid. Monta seems to hurt that team somehow more than help them, so that's another red flag. Not to mention, we seem to be re-creating the 2009 Warriors but in Charlotte.
Here's another idea, not sure if I'd like it or not but it may solve several problems. Baron Davis for Chandler.
Not sure if LA would even be willing to trade him, but they would gain more cap room next year to be a player in '11. Baron would be our starting PG and also really help our scoring problems. The problem is he's just not the same player he was 5 years ago and he's getting up there in age now.
Just figured I'd toss that idea out there considering we're probably not going to have any worthwhile PG this season.

I don't know if it's good thing to reunite 3 players from the warriors that didn't always play well together

Re: Trade I Make Right Now
Unless we're acquiring them as expiring salaries as a prelude to rebuilding, I'd prefer they stay away from older players like Baron.
As for the original proposed trade, I think it would definitely improve us but I dont think it can be justified with those kind of salaries. Thats $80 million in guaranteed payout over the next 4 seasons for those two guys. Theyve both had trouble staying healthy and even when they are, I dont think it would be enough to advance us deep into the playoffs.

Ditto on those comments regarding Baron...he is just not even half the player he once was.
I'll grant you my proposal is probably unwarranted, but I would suggest consideration of the relative investments for the $ involved. I see Dwight Gooden has signed a 5 year $32M deal today. Gooden??? Over $6M per season for that guy??? Biedrens may not be much of a scorer, but give me a defensive shot-blocking rebounder who can put the ball back into the basket, is a starter and 24 years old, and makes only 25% more than Gooden? I think that might be better value. Monta is debated plenty, but his scoring would compliment us well. I'll grant you that he's not a great shooter, but hopefully he could be groomed into being more selective in choosing his spots.
I continue to wait...and hope...for the return to Hornet's glory.

I don't really want to take on any more long term contracts unless the player in question is an actual difference maker.

Yeah, I thought the Gooden signing was a reach also. The guys a very good offensive player and rebounder when he gets minutes though so I'm guessing that they're hoping Skiles will be able to verbally berate him into playing defense.
I actually like Minny's $5mil a year Darko signing. He'll never live up to being the second pick but he's just as good a defender and rebounder as Chandler and they locked him up for less than half the price. Once they move Jefferson, I think he fits well next to love and he is still relatively young.
As for Biedrens, I really like him as a defender and rebounder and even prefer him to Okafor. Like I said, I think it improves us, just not enough to go deep. And once we've taken on their salaries, that will be the team we're stuck with for the next 4 years since there will be no $ left to do anything else.
I'd prefer to pursue the Sessions and Jefferson duo for several million less collectively (who are under contract for only 3 more seasons)

Biedrins is a 7 footer. Maaaaybe just shy, at 6'11''. I have no idea how, after watching him, you think he looks undersized.

Re: Trade I Make Right Now
Biedrens was hurt last year, but check out his production prior. He steadily got better, and averaged 12 PPG and nearly 12 RPG in 08-09. Is he more of an Okafor-type player? Sure, but he costs a lot less than Mek.

I was wrong, I thought he was listed as being 6'9. I still don't like his game though, he boards and blocks shots, but his offensive game is lacking. Since his game is raw and Tyrus is developing but still raw this still leaves Charlotte weak in big man scoring so I'm against Biedrins.

Re: Trade I Make Right Now
Why trade a legit seven footer who is expiring for one who has mirror stats and a longer contract. I also agree with the poster who says we really need to get closier with Felton before doing anything else.
