Seeing the list of teams interested in Dampier, don't you think we could've made some sort of deal with one of them?

Rockets, Raptors, Heat, Suns, Sixers: http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/2010/b ... z0zepkKN6Q

There was no need for them to make a deal with us though.

Why would they give up an asset to get him when they could have just held tight, waited for him to be waived and done what they are doing now (bidding for his services at a cheap price)?

Everyone knew he was never going to suit up with us.

Yeah, nobody was trading for the DUST trip for Dampier to actually play for them, his value as a player was irrelevant to his value as a trading piece (man the NBA is weird).

Plus, teams are interested in the $2 million dollar Erick Dampier, not the $13 million dollar Erick Dampier.

Got to wonder if they pulled the chute a little early on waiving Dampier with all this Melo talk still kicking around?

Higgins is a Pu**y, and was scared into waiving Damp...probably by Damp's agent. I mean, they probably couldn't rationalize bringing him to camp due to the injury clause. If there WAS any hope of engineering a deal, I'd sat him in a padded room with an attendant and bodyguard until a deal could be struck. Still, I doubt anything goes down with Melo until closer to the deadline.

I preferred a trade of assets to get Billups and/or Nene anyway, not giving up Crash and stuff for Melo.
I continue to wait...and hope...for the return to Hornet's glory.

I agree, I read an rumour that if Melo forced a trade that Denver only wanted, youth and draft picks in return and getting under the LT was also a priority. No, we wouldn't get a star for the dust chip, both Dallas and Charlotte proved that, but we could have gotten a solid piece.
