I already addressed 'the running the offense into the ground' - because its definitely DJ's team, not Wallace and Jackson's

Read - I'm talking about how you referred to the triple double like that was on him.

Yeah it was on him. You babbled something about our bigs not boxing out but fail to mention there were a lot of long jump shots taken (which lead to long rebounds) because DJ played 10 feet off his man trying to cut off penetration into the lane by Jennings. There were many times DJ could have grabbed those long rebounds too! But no, Jennings was there to scoop them up every time.

Once again, come out on Wednesday and have a good game. 2 sh*tty games then 1 good one is not going to get it done in the NBA.

You should venture into the Current Affairs forum. The funny on here doesn't even touch the funny over there.

Big ups to DJ for watching tape and figuring out how to play defense tonight. Hopefully this will continue and we don't have to go pg hunting.

Apart from the Mavs game this season (where he blew goats on D pretty much for the whole game) how was his D any different last night than it has been in the past?

Something that really concerned me against the Pacers (and something I've noticed in general) is that DJ doesn't necessarily play his man to his weakness. In the Pacers game, he went OVER the screen and gave TJ the lane when it's obvious you go under on him since he has no outside shot. Sure, the big man is always supposed to hedge and give the little time to switch back (something else I bitch about ALLLL the time) but still, go under on TJ.

Lifted this from the Hammer thread.
Rich4114 wrote:DJ would've had to drop about 30 for me to accept the fact he got completely toasted by Devin Harris most of the 4th quarter.

Harris made some lucky and tough shots last night. He was hitting J's with hands in his face and dropping in pushed layups from his chest.

Rich4114 wrote:That guy got to the rim any time he wanted and being that one of our other guys had to come in to help since he got right by DJ without any issues, it left others open for easy dunks/finishes.

That's the new NBA though - right? The no hand checking, defensive 3 seconds rules etc make it much easier for PG's to get into the lane and to the rim. Heck, DJ could get there every time down to the court too if he wanted.................problem is that he hasn't been finishing when he gets there and last night Harris, under pressure more often than not, did.

Rich4114 wrote:I hope LB can find a way to make DJ into an OK defensive PG. Size has nothing to do with it. Chris Paul is what, 5'10"? He's got no problem being a top defender at his position.

I personally don't think Paul is a top defender. I think he gambles way too much.

@ swedd - i would assume that LB instructs his pgs to go over on all screens. LB is not the type to let stuff like that slide. if he wanted dj to go under vs certain guys i'm pretty sure dj would be going under.

i thought dj played harris pretty well last night for most of the game. pgs like harris are going to get in the lane regardless of who is guarding them. we have to do better job of rotating. but defense wasnt our problem last night. it was the several long stretches of turnovers and bad offense that hurt us.

I'm pretty sure you are correct. DJ would get yelled at before because he'd always cut under the screens. Now at least he's fighting through them like he's been instructed even if you shouldn't against a guy like Ford. Also several of those P&R's with Ford were set by Grainger before he fouled out and Wallace chose not to hedge out on Ford and leave Grainger with an opening. Probably the right move for him.

He stayed in front of his man (as well as he could be hoped) instead of trying to pick pockets constantly like it was NBA2K. That's a huge improvement, kept his teammates from being compromised on D after every burned steal attempt. He did a much better job fighting through screens as well.

No surprise. LB is itching to either make Livingston the starter or get DJ out of here. Last night was the first shot...
