What would be the Bobcats end game with such an offer given Carmelo would not sign and extension (and such an offer would only completely eliminate any possibility MJ could even convince him to sign an extension)? Further, that offer would require the Nuggets to include other players other than just Carmelo thus such an offer can't be judged as an equivalent to a Knicks offer which would be just for Carmelo. The Nuggets wouldn't offer up other expiring contracts so you're talking about Harrington possibly AND Andersen just to get the trade to work - both valued players for the Nuggets. The Bobcats can't match the Knicks for a trade for Anthony - this has yet to be refuted.

And even if the Bobcats could convince the Nuggets to pull the trigger (they won't) what would the endgame be? A franchise reset? How are they going to rebuild? - through the draft? I think the point has already been made in this thread that the Bobcats have a horrendous draft record. I don't think any Bobcats fans want the Bobcats to be relying on the draft to rebuild. But also, Charlotte can't hope for free agents to sign with them either. Charlotte isn't exactly a compelling place for free agents to sign. Charlotte has never signed a big name or even a middle market name,

If Charlotte is going to bundle what talent exists on the team for a marquee player they need someone who will stick around for several years - not bolt at the end of the season.

I can't really get you. Now you are posting about a completely different topic.

You wrote that we can't give a better offer than the Knicks. I just replied that we can, cause we have no untouchable players, so we could give any player from our roster. Sorry, maybe my post was misleading, but I won't give all those players for Melo, I just pointed out, that the Nuggets could select whom ever they like. Since the Knicks could only offer Gallo (and maybe Chandler) I would say we can work out a better trade offer than the Knicks can.

And on our future plans ... it's MJ's choice, he is the owner. If he thinks a complete rebuild needed, than it will be our plan. If he want our team to compete for the playoffs, than he will try to work out a sign and trade with the Knicks for Melo.

And we would rebuild our team through the draft and through free agency like every other team. Yes ... if you own a team on a smaller market, than you could rebuild your team slower, but we could land a quality player from the draft or sign a decent FA. It's not like small teams are doomed. It's just another stupid comment from you. Our management sucks, but if MJ decides on a rebuild, than he would let LB go and maybe fire the whole management too (and hopefully sign Donnie Walsh) :)

The Nets just acquired two first round picks from the Rockets (2012 lottery protected) and Lakers (2011 pick). Looks like Melo is on his way to Jersey.

Good for him, won't be that difficult a move to Manhattan next summer.

Not only are we losing out on Melo, but the Rockets are getting T-Will. So sad.

Not necessarily. This doesn't mean that New Jersey is getting Melo. There are other players that they could trade for with these picks.
