at the end of the day, all you need is a mediocre coach to get the job done. We've had the unfortunate experience of having a horrid coach (Sam Vincent) who actually does the team harm and causes the talent to lose MORE. I don't think Larry Brown had any effect like that until recently. LB does have the downfalls of not adjusting to the new-age NBA with all of the rule changes, but how many wins could the best coach in the entire NBA get out of the talent we have?

Look at Spolestra from Miami or Rivers from Boston. Without 3 superstars each those guys are middle of the pack coaches. I think the best coaches are the ones who do more with less and adapt their styles to the talents top features.

IMO - talent >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> coaches and we can do the same with Silas that we could with Rivers. Without the talent though, it's useless.

Conversely though Rich, take LB and make him the head coach of the current Celtics or current Heat teams and imagine what you would get (I'll give you a clue - use the Olympics as an indicator).

Bingo.

Too bad, if you listened and ran the play that was called by the coach, good chance we get a better shot than the UFO you launched.

How about this, what you do in practice should translate into the game and become instinctive. You think to much out there and you lose. Dummy.

He's not the one who failed to run the play, or at least it didn't appear to be his fault.

Silas refused to name names, until he does you have to blame Jax because he had plenty of time to take it strong to the hole and at least try to get fouled or pass the ball to a teammate. Also, plays break down all the time, you improvise and if he used his brain it would have told him all we need is 2 points and I can beat this guy off the dribble and take it strong to the hole or kick it out when the defense collapses. Act fast! Thats why you practice practice practice for those types of situations. It's not like they're running different plays from LB, it's all the same.

Jax screwed up on that play plain and simple.

It seems more like the team broke down and failed to execute the play.

That happens when the person with the ball (Jack) takes 5 of the 8 remaining seconds to dribble across halfcourt.

Battery is totally correct.

Even if the play did break down that doesn't excuse Jax from taking the shot he did with the amount of time there was on the clock and the floor spread/key as open as it was. At the VERY least he could have dribbled to the FT line, pulled up and taken a J.

I'm not that mad that Jax took the last shot, it was the quality of the shot that I am still steaming about.

It was either a total panic shot or a total hero shot. Either way, the reasoning was sub par to say the least.

I'm just saying Jax is apologizing for the right thing. The play did break down, and he did fail to do anything intelligent. That's what he said, lol.

What's even more amazing about that final play is that we just had a time out! What were the players doing during that time? Blowing bubbles? I actually didn't see anyone moving while Jax was sashaying up the court, everyone was standing still watching him....so how do we know that wasn't the play?? And if that wasn't the play, then we have the dumbest team on the planet because we just came off a time out. I guess the players were in shock during the time out, couldn't believe they actually had a chance to tie/win so they were distracted. Plus...Jax had dinner plans so you know there was no way this game was going into overtime. It was win or go home.

You seem so miserable which is why you like LB so much. Its not like the FO is happy with this team. But the coach has to do his best to increase their trade value. LB was not doing that. They were under performing and he was letting every gm in the league know that these players are stupid. You cannot devalue your own product like that.

How was he doing that when every GM in the league can see for themselves.

Part of the reason they were under-performing was because of Larry Browns inflexible approach to the game. Ask yourself why LB never took advantage of DJ's great shooting, T2's big play potential (by never playing him), and never gave Henderson a chance..... LB ran our offense into the ground, literally, and under him we would have terrible, terrible fourth quarters as well as entire games. I respect LB, but not for the job he did for Charlotte, because any blind ass average joe could have seen that he was using his players wrong, and thats final. Furthermore LB is the ANTI motivator, when he is ragging DJ so hard that it starts affecting DJ's game negatively or that it causes a drop in team morale & productivity then he needs to go..... He openly criticized DJ and even blamed him for "losing" games, when in reality it was his 2 captains who were screwing up...
