Ended up with 40 points but they still lost. Where was this offensive surge when he was wearing our jersey this season? As much as he complained about getting booted out of town, I think he needed the change of scenery.

Still, playing him at PF is a very risky move.

He didn't need a change of scenery and he didn't ask for a change of scenery. As for where this "offensive surge" was this season, it was coming back the few weeks prior to him being traded, and most around here recognized that. Wallace said he had lingering effects from the injury earlier in the season and he was finally starting to get over it a few weeks before we traded him.

But it's okay, Cunningham "channeled" Gerald Wallace by pouring in four points the other day.

This is just one game. When he scores 6 or 8 points I will be posting that too.

Even if he averages 20 for the rest of the season, I'm still happy we did the trade. He's not going to last at PF. 40 points today, very likely he's back to single digits by next week. His inconsistency this year has rivaled Diaw's and that's hard to do. Let's be honest, if he's still playing for us, I highly doubt he puts up 40 in a game.

I'm happy that he's having success in Portland and I'm also happy that he's no longer in Charlotte. It's a win-win for both sides as far as I'm concerned.

You just saw the difference between Jack and Wallace. Jackson would have won that game. Wallace is just not clutch even when he plays great.

Sounds like a few of you are getting sucked into Battery's alternate reality...

If Wallace can put up 40 with Portland, he could put up 40 here.

But it's okay, we have Dante Cunningham, who scored 43 points (in the last 8 games).

Wallace was battling his injury most of the season, and had just started to recover. He was putting up 20pts and posting double-digit rebounds with us fairly regularly just before the trade, and now he's doing the same for Portland.

Please don't try to rewrite history.

Since the trade deadline of 2/23/11, Portland is 10 - 7 and Charlotte is 5 - 10. Something tells me that our records would have been pretty much exacly this even had the trade not occured. So clearing all the cap space and getting a couple 1st round picks is not a losing proposition for Charlotte. I think we did fine. It was not a steal either way. But I bet Portland would have thought they would have done a bit better than 10 - 7 since they got Crash. And I dont say that to disparage Crash. Some of their other big players have not been doing so hot either.

Something tells me you'd be wrong.

(1) 10-7 is still better than Portland's overall winning percentage for the season.
(2) POR is 5-2 with Wallace in the starting lineup, including wins against DAL and SAS.
(3) 5-10 would rival the Larry Brown start of the season. That's a far departure from the winning team Silas turned us into (pre-trade, of course).

Don't kid yourself -- no POR fan would undo that trade. They traded garbage -- some of it injured garbage -- and got back someone that's been playing better basketball than virtually anyone else on their team.

Don't act like fools. When have had problems scoring 40 points in a half, AS A TEAM. Don't think a guy that can score 40 alone wouldn't help us -- and that's not even taking into account his defense, rebounding, etc.

It was a steal for them. Until the intangibles we got back in the trade do anything to benefit this team, it was a steal. Basically, they got Gerald Wallace for Dante Cunningham.

What world do some of you live in?

Then change your RGM name to "The Jimmer" and smile! Because if we end up drafting him, you might just go completely bonkers! :-) I swear, I would love to see the reaction of everyone here if we grabbed Jimmer at #10. That may become our longest Thread ever!

Exactly. MJ really pulled the wool over the fans eyes, but to each his own.

Anyway, i'm totally over it.

I don't think there's a need to address it, but there is so much "wrong" in this post it's fantastic

And next week, when he puts up a horrible performance, people will go back to thinking that the trade was good. I'm not letting a rare performance augment my opinion on the trade. He could very easily blow his ACL the next game or he could continue to put up impressive numbers for the rest of the season. That's what you get with Gerald; great performance if he's healthy.

I always ask myself; are we worse without him? Looking at our schedule, we might have won both LA games had Gerald been playing for us. The other games? We probably still lose those.

At least when I watch games now, I don't have to flinch every time the franchise player is fouled hard.

Probably because he's one of the few guys in the league with the athleticism and skill and size to take on Durant. Durant went 3-13 from 3 and only scored 25 points (against Durant you just have tot ake what you can get and force a bad percentage) and had 4 turnovers. That sounds like Wallace to me. Also limited him to only 1 assist.

Portland put Camby back in the starting line up along with Gerald Wallace. they have Batum coming off the bench so it's

Andre Miller, Wesley Mathews, Gerald Wallace, Lamarcus Aldridge Marcus Camby

Wallace is playing starting Small Forward now.
