OT: Deon Thompson

Post#1 » by Bizz » Tue Jul 19, 2011 2:50 pm

Hi I need some info on Deon Thompson. He is rumored to sing for my club Olimpija Ljubljana and as he is a former Tar heel I thought somebody could give me a little info on the guy. What is he good at what not? Did he have any off court trouble ect. Thanks

dx's review sounds pretty accurate from what i remember. an active big who was a tad undersized as a center. could block some shots and score down low but never really stood out as someone who would be anything more than a bench guy in a better league.

I didn't love him, didn't hate him at UNC. He's a dependable low block scorer and puts in good effort on D. Fluid and athletic enough to get heavy minutes in a Tar Heel tempo game. That said, he's one of those guys that does a lot of things good, but not many things great.

Pretty much. He's a guy destined for Europe, which isn't a bad thing. Will probably have a decent career over there and who knows, he may work his way up and get an NBA gig in a few years.

Our media is reporting he averaged 14ppg 8reb 1,3block in 25 games last year in Greece. Which all rank in the TOP 10 for the league. He is reportedly singing 2 year 500k contract.

Deon went to the same high school I graduated from. All my friends were raving how they can brag about knowing a future NBA player, but in my head I was like "nawww!" He does nothing wrong but doesn't excel either. He's a role player.

I'm glad he's doing well & if he develops to league standard I hope we sign him for depth.
