i will try to hold the nepotism comments until i see this guy play. his resume, on its own, seems worthy of an nba job. his size and skillset seems worthy as well. and he fills a need, a big combo guard. take his last name out of the equation and i probably wouldnt think twice about it.

but, then again, you cant just ignore the fact he is our gm's son now can you?

his go to move seems to be the pull up jumper from about 18ft off the move to his right hand.

Who cares what people think, Corey is a good player & had a very good college career.

Burks credits him for helping him raise his game in Colorado.

So Coach Silas has his son.
Higgins has his son.
MJ's kids are coming up.
Wonder if Cho has any kids?

If Rufus Lynx ever pops out a litter things are going to get crazy crowded.

And to think we could have claimed Eddie House...what a joke that would have been! How badly would we have felt here with House in the house, yet knowing Cory Higgins was available??

Seriously...the LOLCATS new show is sure to be more hilarious than any previous edition.
I continue to wait...and hope...for the return to Hornet's glory.

Actually, I would much rather have a guy like Higgins than House. First, they wanted a bigger combo guard. They already have two undersized PG's, so House would not fit that need. While House is a good three point shooter, he is also out the first 6 weeks, I believe. The person we are signing is supposed to help make up for the scoring lost by having Williams out the first 6 weeks, so again he would not be a fit. Finally this team is in rebuilding mode and trying to find young talent. House does not at all fit that bill either.

On to Higgins. Basketball wise this was a good move, I think. I'm not 100 percent sure of other undrafted rookies out there, but Higgins seems like a solid one. He had good success at Colorado and brings size (6'5") to the back court. It's always tough when your father is the GM, but this is actually not a bad move. I would sure rather a guy like Higgins to Moon or Nachbar.

Not really thrilled with this signing. We sure we should have signed him given his father's role with the organization. Might make cutting or trading him a bit difficult later. And I have to think we could have round someone with a little more scoring potential to help us out.

Can someone remind me what the job descriptions are for Higgins and Cho?

It seems like we make some steps (Kemba, Biz, Mullens) that smack of Cho and show imagination and foresight, the kinds of moves good small-market teams like OKC, MEM, IND make, followed by head-scratching news (Dante walks, Nachbar & Moon invited to try out) that clearly bear the Higgins stench.

Higgins is the all time leading scorer at Colorado, so it's not like he can't score. I think his potential as a scorer is decent, actually.

As far as who is in charge. I agree that the Moon/Nachbar moves seem like a Higgins move. Although I have to say that bringing in Corey Higgins does seem like a Cho move. Bring in a big combo guard who is young, fits the bill for what we should be doing. Bringing in any and all young talent. The "extras" we brought in for training camp seemed like a Higgins move as well. We should had brought in guys like Corey Higgins instead of guys in there late 20's or retreds.

As far as Cunningham goes. I thought we should had matched, but it's hard to tell who might had made that call. In a way you could look at it as a cheap deal for a guy who can produce off the bench. He would be a future asset, you would think, so that would be another reason to keep him. However, in the other way you could look at it as an unnecessary added 4 million because of the play of D Brown, who is on a minimum deal. In the Cho sense, keeping a cheap young guy who showed good production in the games you've seen over signing a guy to the same position for 4 million might seem like a good move. Really not sure who was the overriding force in deciding that move. Only time will tell if it pays off. (D Brown plays really good basketball off the bench)

Higgins = president of basketball operations
Cho = general manager

I think Higgins will be a good pro & perfect to backup Kemba.

Denver signed him first so it's not like this guy had zero interest outside our FO. He fits the credentials we were looking for (third big guard that can play both positions) at a cheap price. The family connection helped because the team has more information about him (personal especially) than they do with many UFA's.

Well, I wouldn't get too excited about him. If you watched Colorado play, you could tell he was a decent athlete, but a better college baller than pro-potential. Yes the Nuggets took a look but they waived him after sampling the goods. Fine if we need a 15th man (I suppose) but I hope he doesn't create a situation where we now have only 14 spots on our team (since the 15th is teacher's pet).

It probably didn't hurt that George Karl once coached Rod Higgins.

I don't think it's a conspiracy to get Cory Higgins in the league.

He deserves his shot.
