I'd rather bring in Nate McMillan.

Why? I think everyone would have a different image of Nate if he hadn't had a cursed medical staff.

I saw a lot Mitchell when he was HC of the Raps when they were having their break out seasons and their ball movement was fantastic as was their D. I think he is a more balanced coach than Nate.

He's a younger Larry Brown. I only want Larry Brown for the lulzfactor. Nate doesn't provide lulz; just frustration.

I have to agree. Mitchell got the shaft. Pretty good coach.

Kemba would thrive in a D'Antoni offense. Felton ( who has one of the ugliest shots in the history of civilization ) averaged nearly 17 a game with 7 or 8 assist under D'Antoni. Walkers shooting percentage isnt great, but he does have nice form, and I think he would thrive under a run and gun style.

But the Mike D system relies heavily on the PG getting shots for his team mates and especially making quick decisions with the ball.

Kemba tends to pound it way too much.

D'Antoni likes to use high pick and rolls to get people open also. I dont even know if Paul Silas knows what a pick and roll is.

I would be thrilled if either D'Antoni or Mcmillan came here. Sam Mitchell? Eh not so much. Maybe the name Sam reminds me too much of that Sam Vincent train wreck.

From deadspin.com

As for D'Antoni? Our tipster, currently batting 1.000, says that "he has either the Wash or Charlotte job lined up, otherwise he would not have left." For what it's worth.

Are there any strong assistant coaches out there that would make a solid head coach (like Tom Thibodeau in 2010)?

Nevertheless, I would MUCH rather have D'Antoni or McMillan than either Paul or Stephen Silas.

We should have Mike D AND Nate on our coaching staff.

Mike D can handle the offense and Nate the defense. They could also play the good cop, bad cop roles to perfection.

Then the NBA could make a sitcom out of it too.

Winners all round.

I can dig it. We should make them live together as well, get that Odd Couple angle going.

Have unfortunate "accidents" happen for entertainment purposes, like when on away trips there is a stuff up with the booking and they have to share a queen size bed.

[waking up after sharing the same bed]
Nate: Mike... Why did you kiss my ear?
Mike: Why are you holding my hand?
Nate: [frowns] Where's your other hand?
Mike: Between two pillows...
Nate: Those aren't pillows!

Well, Stephen Silas is considered to be a strong assistant coach who would make a solid head coach.

D'Antoni has resigned and he should become an assistant coach. Steve Nash made everyone him around him look better than they were including his coach. D'Antoni had Amare, Carmelo, Chandler and Lin and he still couldn't manage a .500 record. This isn't the Globetrotters league - teams need to play defense and have some semblance of strategy.

I can't see D'Antoni coming here because a)we don't have any players right now who fit his system and b)everything with MJ begins with defense

MJ would have to suddenly change his philosophy, and cough up the cash. Not likely. Also, I can't see MD wanting to go through a full rebuilding process after dealing with the headache in NY. He really needs some already established pieces put in place who fit his system. We have none of that.
