Hickson was a pretty good player in Cleveland. Regardless of what's happened this year, it's pretty silly to think White or Mullens are better than him.
Humble yourself.

J.J. Hickson didn't have the most wonderful career with the Sacramento Kings, but he's set for a new beginning following the agreement of a contract buyout on Monday. That new beginning will reportedly come with the Golden State Warriors.

Hickson will still have to clear waivers, but assuming nobody wants to pay him the prorated amount of roughly $2.5 million for the remainder of the season, CSN's Matt Steinmetz is reporting that the Warriors plan to sign him.

The Warriors are likely to sign power forward J.J. Hickson if and when he clears waivers, according to league sources.

The Warriors have room on their roster to accommodate Hickson's signing without having to waive a player. Hickson will likely get minutes at power forward behind starter David Lee.

Hickson will add to a front line that's already a bit clogged in Golden State, considering rookies Jeremy Tyler and Chris Wright are both still trying to work themselves into the rotation.

So assuming the signing of Hickson makes losing Udoh in the trade with the Bucks a wash then essentially the trade becomes:

Ellis and Kwame
for
Bogut and **** Jefferson

What's sillier though is to think we'd want to sign someone better than either of those guys for the remainder of the season given the best outcome of this season would be a #1 draft pick (aka Anthony Davis).

That makes sense for both sides - Warriors need to end with top 7 pick to keep it and JJ would have an opportunity to stat pad his averages (not %) and won't have to move out of California (assuming his important others are settled there already).

To move out of the best chance, we'd have to catch the Hornets who have 4 more wins then us. To move out of the top 3 we'd have to catch two teams that 15 wins each. Unless you think JJ is going to suddenly play like he did in Cleveland, I can't see that happening. Hornets might tank out though, but I doubt we catch the Raptors and Nets (the 15 win teams).

Well I'm still hoping that we bought out Diaw to claim Hollins.

Let it happen Cho.

Please don't let that happen.

Besides its rumored that the Pacers are interested in him and Jeff Foster did just retire. Not to mention that can absorb his contract. Wouldn't it be strange to read that Ryan Hollins got claimed off waiver by one of the better teams in the NBA?

Anyone catch JJ Friday night at the Clips? He got the start in place of injured Aldridge and went full out beast mode. He ended up with 29/13 on 13-19 shooting. He also had several gorilla dunks including one over DeAndre Jordan. Wish we could have grabbed this guy when we had the chance. He was playing really good in Cleveland. I know we are deep at 4, but you can never have enough assets.

I don't think we could have claimed him of waivers, I think it was a money/cap room thing.

So no point hating FO for this one, although the Higgins is crap.

I'd say maybe we can sign him as FA but if he keeps this up he will demand more than we need to pay.

He's going to keep get opportunities at Portland, so I can see him having a good 2nd half of the season and getting paid.

Hopefully we get Davis, Mully gets some "dieting tips" from Hulk Hogan and learns to block out/rebound and a 3 way combo of Biz, Mully and Mono becomes a solid formation.

Agree that it was yet another lost opportunity by this organization. Hickson has talent a plenty, just needs to get it channeled properly. Freezing a season relative to moves in order to tank is one thing, but ignoring gift opportunities is another.
I continue to wait...and hope...for the return to Hornet's glory.

Exactly! Remember when the Heat gave away Beasley for a 2nd I believe? We missed the boat on that too. Frustrating!

JJ Hickson has bloated numbers. It would have been nice to sign him, but he is one of the best examples of inflated/bloated numbers since Jerome James turned a good playoff series into a long term deal with the Knicks.

Beasleys personal numbers go up when his teams wining perecentage goes down. Look at his two season with Minnesota. I wouldn't mind him for a 2nd round pick, but we can probably offer him money when the Wolves show minimal interest in keeping him.

The only move (albeit impossible to happen or to predict) that I think this team missed out on was Gerald Wallace to the Nets for Shawne Williams, Mehmet Okur, and top 3 protected 1st. So we could've of waited ONE year and got a large expiring contract, a very likely high draft pick, and to hang onto Shawne Williams for a little bit. All that for one more year of Crash.

Adding JJ Hickson would not have meant losing the most ping pong balls. There are obvious measures we could have taken to ensure we remained behind Washington and New Orleans in the event that we did get close to catching either, which very likely would not have happened anyway.
