I'm new to NBA, I'm Australian and have decided that the Bobcats are the team to follow. I follow a current generation successful team in Australian Rules Football (AFL) in the Geelong Cats and wanted to follow a struggling team on the potential rise in a new sport. I drew an emotional connection with Bobcats very early on based on a few factors and I'm right behind them. Signed up to NBA League Pass and I'm raring to go for the NBA season. Been following preseason and things are looking pretty good the last game and a half. Ok.. intro over.

My main point of this post is this - when the Bobcats change to the Hornets next season do we bring along with it the Hornets history from the past or is that part of New Orleans franchise now?

I just want clarification so I can get behind the history of the club.

Cheers guys!

You chose the right team to get behind. To answer your question, the name change is just for aesthetics. The franchises history will remain the same as it was, since the Bobcats came into the league some ten years ago. The Pelicans still own the old Charlotte Hornets history and the New Orleans Hornets history.

whenever I check out stores I never see Bobcats jersey.

Ironically you can generally get Charlotte Hornets gear though. Shows how valuable Larry Johnson and co were.

Interesting.

I think Aussies are often drawn to the underdogs.

FYI, there are a few Aussie Bobcat fans around.

Don't forget the one in TAS who is a rabid Geelong fan also Sach.
