Blake Griffin Vs Anthony Davis

Current contract situations aside, who would you rather on the Bobcats and why?

Present pro's and con's for each player.

Anthony Davis without hesitation. Blake Griffin isn't good for much but highlights. Davis is the more complete player and will be the best PF in the league sooner than later which lead me to say that I think Davis is already better than Griffin. Davis is the better rebounder and shot blocker. The only thing that remains to be seen is if Davis is a better scorer even though he already has a better shot.

Davis by a mile, i think Blake is the most overrated player in the NBA, cant do anything but dunk, average rebounder and bad defender

This is such a hypothetical question. What made you ask? just for fun because it crossed your mind? you were debating with somebody? or there is a unforeseen theory that make you believe that we could land one of them in the near future?

Mike Malone was never given a fair chance in Sacramento, and Ranadive will soon come to regret that, when he's on top of the WC inevitably contending somewhere

Just because it crossed my mind - and to promote discussion on the board (plus we don't play for three days!!)

On top of that, our posters tend to compare our own current players to other players - and because we are fans a lot of us are loyal to our own players and can't be impartial so I thought it might be interesting to ask posters to compare players that are not associated to the Bobcats.

I plan on doing a few. This just happened to be the first.

BTW: Not saying that he would be my pick, but I think people are seriously under valuing Griffin and what he brings to the table.

Griffins post game is evolving. He's added a nice little jumper to his repertoire.

He's a creative passer too and recognizes a double team while passing out of it very well.

For all his faults, Blake Griffin does get picked apart a bit too often. The argument that he is over-rated is getting thrown around too much that I think at this point only few people rate him properly.

His jumper is not that bad and it does seem like he has worked on it a bit. But I think the negative aspect of it is the slow release he has. He needs a whole lot of time to prepare it and basically can only launch it when he's wide open.

Of course, you would take Davis for all of the arguments previously mentioned. However, people get down on Griffin a bit too lot. I don't necessarily like the guy but he's still a young stud. The break-down of his strengths and faults kind of remind you of a young Amare.

Yep. I don't think a lot of people give him credit for this. His moves may look very awkward at times and it seems like he's going nowhere, but with the combination of his strength and the balance he usually winds up getting close and easy looks.

The worst part about his post game might just be his reluctance to go down there. I mean, during opening night he should have asked for the ball to demolish D'Antoni's joke of a stretch-4 - Wesley Johnson.

According to Synergy, Blake has posted up 30 times this season and ranks 3rd in the league with 1.07 points per possession. He's 11 from 19 from the field on those plays. Not bad.

I would love to be have the job of being an analyst one day who would have to have a subscription to Synergy to see how he did in past seasons. To my knowledge, we can only see the current season's data.

Edit: Meanwhile, Davis is 4/18 on 21 plays. Ouch.

Blake is average rebounder? lol. There's one season he averaged less than 10 per game. If he can develop a reliable outside jumper and hit 75%on his FTs, he would be unstoppable. An average rebounder would be Amare. His low post game is not that bad at all. His passing game is overlooked as well as he is one of the best passing big men in the league.

Obviously, Davis is better defensively and i would take him over Blake because of this, but let's not pretendthe only asset Blake has is 'dunking'.

Davis because he's easier to build around plus he actually would be the perfect complement to Jefferson. Protects the rim, can guard multiple positions, recover on help, already has a decent perimeter offense, etc.

If he can remain healthy, Davis.

Davis flashed a full repertoire of skills against us in our recent game, and as much as I like MKG, I still cursed a little about it. He even looked good dribbling the ball on a fast break.

Anthony Davis. Already the better defender and still has room to grow.
