This goes to show you how slim pickings can be if we trade down with the Orlando Magic.
It's a wasteland.

Going with Aaron Gordon. I honestly nearly picked Napier.

Aaron Gordon will be gone before then and it wouldn't surprise me to see a few other guys go before that. Ultimately I think James Young will still be there at #12 if we moved down, but I prefer LaVine, Stauskas, and McDermott to him.

Re: Who should be #12 on the Hornets Big Board?
Definitely Gordon pushes one down, maybe Saric another. I don't think Harris gets drafted in the top 12.
So we'd likely have a choice between Young + Stauskas or Young + LaVine.
This stuff with Vonleh's hands and Gordon's MKG-like athleticism/motor/defense maybe just maybe Randle falls to 8.
The Kings would either take McDermott, Saric or Randle there I would think. Some GM will trade up for Randle...maybe Orlando.
We will be in a position to draft McDermott, Saric or Stauskas.

Re: Who should be #12 on the Hornets Big Board?
I went with Kyle Anderson. He's probably the next great fit for Charlotte on the list for me. Anderson as a rookie could probably step right into Josh McRoberts' role tomorrow and the Hornets wouldn't miss a beat, but instead may very well progress into a much better team
Dario Saric, from all I've seen has a similar style of play to Anderson, but I'm not one that trust international players that I haven't had the chance to observe personally & extensively.
Saric paled in comparison as a stretch/point forward statistically to Anderson when you consider the fact that Anderson did no easy task of a feat by averaging over 6.5 assist to 3.1 turnovers in the NCAA to Saric's 3.2 assist to 3.4 turnovers in Eurobasket

Going with Gordon, but Saric would be OK as well.

Re: Who should be #12 on the Hornets Big Board?
Went with Harris (again). Arguably the best two-way player in the draft ... should be a no brainer on the board at this point.
I did think it was interesting that the latest SI mock has us taking Saric though. Honestly, I know almost nothing about him except that he might not play in the NBA next year, so I don't know whether to be excited about it or not.

9. Charlotte Hornets (via Pistons) -- Dario Saric, F, Croatia (20 years old), 6-10, 223
The Hornets have the poor-shooting Michael Kidd-Gilchrist at small forward and Josh McRoberts at power forward. There is a need for Saric, a rapidly developing point forward who dominated the Adriatic League last season. Saric can create offense off the dribble and excels in the open floor.

Re: Who should be #12 on the Hornets Big Board?
SI really isn't a very reputable site for the NBA draft imho. Honestly, unless we get a shooter via trade or free agency there should be absolutely no reason for us to draft yet another PF, especially if McRoberts accepts his player option. All these sites try so hard not to be similar and try to make excuses for these boneheaded guesses for teams.

Re: Who should be #12 on the Hornets Big Board?
Saric all the way. I haven't voted before on the big board but I must say I am amazed how much this board is biased to European players. I understand that most of you haven't seen Saric play and don't know much about him. But he is really underrated here. Picking James Young above him is just wrong
Some people are afraid he won't come over this year. So fing what. Will the Hornets compete for a ring next season? My safe bet says no. And if winning a championship is the goal you don't make short term decisions. Did Raptors suffer when they picked Valanciunas? No they waited a year and got their center of the future. Hornets are a playoff team that just happens to have a lottery pick and they should act like that.
Not only is Saric the best European prospect since Rubio but he is also one of the most proven international prospects ever. It is hard to find an european player that accomplished so much before coming over being barely 20 years old.
And on top of that he is the best fit for this team in the entire draft. He will be a true stretch 4 when it is all said and done. Most of us want an upgrade at 4 but know how much McRoberts game helped the team. Well Dario has better 3pt shot, better passing skills, better handles and gives more effort in rebounding the ball. He was 2nd in ABA league in rebounds and that is usually the skill that translates to the NBA. He is basically a rich mans Mcbobs with high potential. He is the most skilled player in this draft and if he was just a little bit more gifted athletically he would be top4 pick.

Re: Who should be #12 on the Hornets Big Board?
well said bizz. not sure i will agree that he is a better passer than mcbob, even though i havent seen him play. mcbob is probably one of the 5 best passing bigs in the league. thats rare company. regardless, saric seems underrated. it would suck if we did have to wait a year on him, but it wouldnt be the end of the world. it not much different than drafting lavine who probably wouldnt play many minutes next year if he was a hornet.

^Speaking of which, I was reminded last night that despite being fat and lazy that Diaw was/is a hell of a passer too. He had some beautiful assists to Green.
If McBob isnt back with this team next year, they sure better have a Stauskas, Stephenson or Kyle Anderson type that they're inserting into the lineup because McBob played an underappreciated role in facilitating Charlotte's offense.

Re: Who should be #12 on the Hornets Big Board?
you must have multiple passers, shooters and ball handlers in today's NBA. we cant survive with kemba + 4 other guys who cant create, pass or shoot. thats a nightmare.
