Sessions might not be much of a facilitator/passer, but most of Neal's bench scoring, he's been doing on his own anyway (it's not like he's been getting great setups from Roberts). Roberts is just a horrible player. With Sessions and Neal, our bench might have actually had a fighting chance offensively against other teams. As it stands right now, we basically have to have Neal turn into Allen Iverson each night.
I think some over-criticize Roberts on this board. He's a back-up point guard. There's a reason for him being one. He isn't able to do everything at a decent level.
If we had someone like Mo Williams (who some members have mentioned as a superior choice) backing up Kemba, we'd find five other reasons to whine about his play.
Roberts is solid. We expect him to shoot from outside and be effective at it. He had a slow start to the season but as of late he's been pretty good at making mid-range shots off the pick-n-roll. Moreover, he thankfully looks competent on defense. I dislike back-ups who come in, jack up shots at a high usage rate and keep losing their match-up on the other end of the court. You know the type.
