Hornets Week 4: Corner Threes and Lance

Post#1 » by LamarMatic7 » Thu Nov 27, 2014 8:35 pm

http://lamarmatic.wordpress.com/2014/11 ... ce-passes/

Us giving up corner threes on pick-n-rolls (and, in comparison, being very bad at it when compared to last year), Lance's bounce passes and him wandering on defense and our pathetic starting line-up shooters around Al.

Good read. You are writing some very solid stuff!
My picks:
2020 Draft (3rd pick) - Tyrese Haliburton, Devin Vassell, or Onyeka Okongwu
2021 Draft (11th pick) - Moses Moody

Great read, although quite depressing...

Just a small typo, at the end of the first paragraph:
"I don’t know how longer can I wait for Michael Kidd-Gilchrist to return."
should be "I don’t know how longer I can wait for Michael Kidd-Gilchrist to return."

Really looking forward to your next post, keep up the good work!

first off, huge thanks for taking your time, noticing a mistake and informing me about it. due to my general inexperience and English not being my native language I've been making more than enough of mistakes. those who have come forward have really helped me (like this one guy who noticed that I had used the same YT link twice, at that point it had already been 5 hours after me publishing the blog... smh...)

I actually did re-write this sentence a few times and somehow concluded that "can I wait" sounded good as if there was an emphasis put on the sentence. but, hey, maybe I'm imagining things and you cannot really say it that way.

No problem, I think you're a really talented analyst and I really enjoy reading your posts every time even if I don't always comment on it. Being a foreign speaker myself I know I always like being pointed out what's wrong in my writing as well which is why I won't hesitate to correct you. As far as that mistake goes, I'm pretty sure this is the only way to say it but it'd be nice if a native speaker can confirm.

I always upvote your blog posts on reddit as well when I see them, I hope you'll continue to get more exposure and positive feedback!

thanks for that. the reddit thing is a sour topic though.

they (meaning the main r/nba subreddit, not our Hornets community) have some sort of policy against self-promotion. I got banned yesterday when it was only the second time I had posted an article of mine. Fortunately, I am cool with one of the mods, who's a great dude, so he lifted the ban but now I'm complying to their rules and posting the entirety of my blog as a post on reddit with the link only at the bottom.

the Frye blog proved that while realGM can generate some buzz and all (twitter is absolutely the worst at this, btw), nothing compares to reddit which got me thousands of views. this last column only generated 35 clicks from r/nba with the readers not having to open the link.

I'm trying to stay cool and remind myself that at this point it's not about the views but just getting noticed whether it's on reddit or on my own site since being on r/nba's front page seemingly was still enough to get Yahoo's attention. but, yeah, it's tough seeing those figures drop.

So are other people allowed to post links to your stuff? I'm sure many of us would be more than willing to do so. I saw your text post the other day. As long as people see it, that's all that matters. You'll get scooped up by a blog who will give you next nothing for your posts in no time.

I obviously thought about playing the system and the many possible ways how that could be worked out. Yet I have the feeling that it might end up in them banning links from my site altogether. And then that would be a real disaster considering how many people actually do read reddit and that it is my way of reaching them.

So I sort of concluded that I should rather ask the one mod about things like these before I do anything like that.

Good read! What stuck out for me is the shooters playing off Al. I just assumed that that was the plan all along--to get Al some breathing space and have him play off a "Stretch 4" and a couple of shooters. But I guess the offensive sets aren't quite there yet. I'm sure Clifford and the coaching staff are aware of this, so I wonder if it's also an execution problem.

Anyway, looking forward to reading more of your stuff, man. I'm new here and I haven't read through your archives yet, but I'd love to hear your take on how Lance and Kemba play off each other.
