i think we should allow for Euro's as well. Lets draft Lamar's cousin or whoever that Latvian dude is

We tried that and landed Jeff Taylor

Yeah we swung and missed a lot with second rounders. Monta Ellis and Draymond Green were the exceptions.

At least you try to develop them. We usually end up selling them for cash if they're worse than 35

who actually looked like a steal before he drank too much of the Charlotte water, which apparently eats into your brain and turns you toxic.

This myth has been proven the Walrus provided the following examples.

Byron Mullens
Ben Gordon
Lance Stephenson
Jeff Taylor
Larry Brown

and who could forget poor Rufus who was last scene lying a puddle of his own filth while clutching a large flagon of moonshine to his chest.

I actually think we try too hard. Especially with late firsts. Nedovic was not an NBA player and should have been cut a year earlier than he was. Kuzmic is not nba level either and is still on the roster.

If you would make a list there would be some great random NBA names on it. From Jermareo Davidson, who had a stint in Charlotte as well, to Andrew DeClercq.

But, yeah, I've made this point earlier in draft discussions as well. I don't pride myself into knowing the NCAA guys and discussing prospects the whole season before the draft but I would agree to the overall notion and way of thinking about drafting seniors just because they've had four years of great coaching that other freshmen will never get because of the schedule at the NBA. If I were a coach, I'd love for my team to draft someone like Lillard or Draymond Green who instantly know how to play and who I can trust.

The days of teams drafting the Alvan Adams's and Magic's with the first picks and them contributing immediately are long gone though...

Edit: Damn it. I totally should have went with the Todd Fuller name-drop, instead of DeClercq.

:o :o :-? Coach Clifford's post game comments summoned it all up..We sucked and played out of control for 3 quarters because 3-4 players played poorly..And He was talking mostly about starters. Yes Kemba had a career high 42 points..Congratulations....How many games this year have we won when Kemba scored 30+ points? Last night,How many shots did Kemba miss in the last 5 minutes of the Game? In the second half ,How many points did the rest of the Hornets score? 7,9?
:banghead: Whew it's a no brainer? When Lance comes back maybe he should control the ball after it comes over the time line and Kemba play SG.

one aspect you can easily bring up when talking about our player development is our staff. now it isn't as bad as it used to be back in the day when Jordan would almost only surround himself with his inner-circle guys, he's fired Higgins and guys like Fred Whitfield no longer (seemingly) are employed in basketball-related positions (he was in one in Washington)

but I find it curious, even if I'm only playing the role of devil's advocate, that our director of player personnel is Jordan's brother (not the one who served in the Army though, he's the Executive Vice President of Operations, whatever that means), while one Rick Higgins (you would guess that there's a relation) is a video scout.

I do understand that you'll hire basketball-related guys (Chris Whitney, Dickey Simpkins, Pat Ewing, Charles Oakley, etc.) with whom you have relationships but, I mean, it's fair to question MJ employing relatives.

Kemba playing last night like he was the best shooting guard in our history.

Such a pity he's not 6'6".

Kemba was really motivated coming off of that bad matchup with Westy.

I felt like as soon as Charlotte got down by 8 or so in the first, the game was lost. This team isn't good at chipping away leads when they've had rest, definitely not good with tired legs after a back to back. Coming out flat in the first killed us and no amount of hero ball will save you if you can't consistently get stops.

Clifford feels like a bad Thibodeau clone, running our starters into the ground. Especially a hobbled Al Jefferson. Just why, man? How many wide open layups have to happen before Clifford grows a pair and sits Al for a hot minute?

Coach Cliff does act like he is afraid of Big Al.
