Lets say batum has a poor season, will you still overpay?

Depends on how poor and the circumstances behind it, but probably.

Will you pay $20m if he average 12 4 4 on 42% shooting and 33% from 3?

I have that feeling too. Cho was on the radio talking about waiting to hear from batum's agent after resigning gilchrist. I think they tried to extend him and they didn't agree on a contract. Batum's agent is known to be tough and cho and his little assistant jobs may depend on it. Lets say batum has a poor season, will you still overpay?

Interesting note. Since we're over the cap we can't re-negotiate his deal, but we could do an extension. Problem is we could only offer raises at a max rate of 7.5% of his current deal. Basically he'd be giving up a lot of money if he agreed to an extension vs. waiting for free agency.

He would have to be playing MKG level defense to command that kind of money. He could command $20M with 12/6/6 on 45/35 and above average but not elite D though

A majority of the stuff Batum does doesn't translate to the box score. He's going to get paid by someone

Might as well wait until the season is over before making any decision.
