That's what Clifford is weighing. At the same time, PJ doing nothing else on offense is addition by subtraction on the first unit. Fans get frustrated with PJ because he's an unconscious gunner but that's what the first unit needs more than an on-ball guard like Lamb. PJ needs to make more of them though but the fact he doesn't hold/dribble is what the starters need, and why Troy and PJ may be options still to start.
Lambs ability to run the pick and roll and create offense is more valuable with that second unit.
I think Lamb is a very good offensive player, the only problem I see with him is his defense. One of his main issue with defense is he gives up way too easy on screens. He needs to learn how to read the screens better and improve his effort on chasing after a good screen, He can learn both by studying Lin.
Offensively, his off ball movement needs to improve. Sometimes when he doesn't have the ball, he tends to stand around and not moving to create space for himself or for his teammates. He probably developed this bad habit while playing at OKC watching Durant and Westbrook, but he is still young, hope the vets and Cliff can knock some sense into him.
If he can improve on both, I think at worse he can be a solid backup 2 guard, and could potentially be a starting 2 guard down the road.
