This is very true, but our ability to adjust depends on everything else remaining a constant. A series of injuries puts everything and everyone in react mode.
I was walking about the interior action before things got REALLY bad, and I think it was obvious to all the players that Al's return would immediately take that pressure back off of the perimeter... but we all know how that went down. Frank played well for a while, Cody too - but Cody is and probably will always be inconsistent and Frank is just now hitting the amount of games that would signify the end of his college season (ie the typical rookie wall).
I think all of this is absolutely a hurdle the team can manage IF the team becomes proactive in how it manages injuries ----sit guys ffs--- and how it manages its roster. Hansborough, Daniels to an extent, and Harrison are wastes of roster spots right now. Its nice to be believe that Harrison will be a good addition down the road, but we're not that kind of team at the moment. We need a real 3rd PG since Lin is more of a SG for us and we desperately need a functional center that doesn't exist to give away momentum in Hansborough.
But.... this team is young in more ways than on the court. Cliff's never had to deal with injuries quite like this (few coaches do tbh) and our FO hasnt been slapped in the face like this either.
All of the East outside of Cleveland is, has, and will encounter more ups and downs as the season progresses.... I'm not all that concerned. Even if we don't make the playoffs, we still have to continue to play with the intent of doing so as the team is playing better, despite injuries/talent, than ever before. Gotta maintain that into next year and not worry about Batum's status.
