Gordon Hayward is probably a little better overall than Batum, but I think I'd rather have Batum for our team. We need all the playmaking we can get from his position and he is superior to Hayward in that regard. Hayward is the better shooter and scorer but I'm comfortable with Batum's scoring production. The only things that bother me about him are the turnovers and mediocre defense, but those are the two areas where I'm definitely confident in our players improving under Clifford.

ironically, Glen Rice is associated with, perhaps, the biggest occasion of someone being salty over losing a record - Wilt shaking his head on the side-lines after Rice broke his All-Star Game record for points in a quarter.

Batum used to be a good defender when he was at the Blazers. He always matched with the opponent best wing players. I don't know what happened to him, he seems regressed on defensive end.

Has to use a lot more energy on the offensive end here. Was the 4th option on the Blazers. Could exert a ton of energy on the defensive end there.

I assumed it had to do with the extra offensive burden. Hes always had such a good reputation as a defender. I'm not too worried about it in the long run since we got MKG.

yeah that's one of the things I think a lot of us forget when calculating the benefits of having MKG back. Batum and Hairston slot a lottttttt better as 2nd/3rd best wing defenders than they do taking on the toughest assignment every night.

also if Productive Wing Scorer is having to expend energy to get decent looks against MKG for 30 minutes a night, it really helps the Hornets throughout the game. maybe one less opportune rebound by Productive Wing Scorer in crunch time, maybe one less loose ball.

it's not the easiest thing to calculate, but it's definitely easy to see MKG's effect once he gets back.

Injured. Doesn't have the mobility he usually has.
