Kemba, Batum, MKG, Marv, Zeller
Lin, Lamb, Lee, Frank, Al/Hawes

Was just coming here to write this. For the youngin's and "new" fans, you're seeing some historically fun basketball. I can't recall the last time I've felt like I was watching a smart, talented Hornets/Bobcats team. During last night's game, I actually almost quieted the loser's mentality many of us have developed over the years, being convinced we would win even when it was close. We are deep and relatively solid at every position. When you roll out Kemba, Lee, Batum, Marv, Zeller there are no real weak points to attack. Add MKG into the mix and that's a super solid defensive team that can really move the ball. I'm probably just high on the last several games, but man is it nice to watch a team that isn't full of holes/one dimensional (for the most part - Al).

Would we have felt compelled to trade for Lee if we still had MKG?

Probably not but maybe. No reason not to build the bench, and we got good value out of the trade.

PJ still would have been a massive hole on our second unit if we had MKG. I think we'd definitely still do the Lee trade.

Yeah I think the question for me is more would we still target a wing.

I think my favorite thing about last night was the way Cliff managed the rotation with our bigs. Loved seeing us use Al to generate offense with that second unit in the fourth quarter and forcing the defense to adjust to that dynamic, then midway through the quarter switching it up with Marv and Cody and busting the game open. It requires such a different defensive approach when Al is in the game that defenses have to almost completely switch up their schemes when we put Cody and Marv in.

I know a lot of folks were worried about Al accepting a bench role and Cliff using him in that role, but if last night was an example of our rotation going forward that is something to be excited about. If we can get Al back to spring 2014 Al he is going to straight up wreck some backup bigs.

I never read the names of the writers before I read the piece, but if it has clips and good individual play breakdowns it's always obvious that Lamar wrote the piece.

i am impressed with Kemba's PnR plays lately, he has been feeding Cody too... with his handle and quickness, he should be lethal in PnRs as long as he remembers there is a big rolling with him.... hopefully this will stay

Didn't get to watch the game but looking at the scoreboard seems like everyone played well. Let's get HCA!

Hairston was on his way out of the rotation once MKG was back and settled. Lamb had the spot for himself in the second unit.

I doubt it would have happened, cuz we lost BRob.

Nice article. So we have two of the fastest south to north players in the league, we should use that a bit more often I suppose, especially considering the depth of the team.

~lol~ at the Tommy Heinsohn clip!

Lin has been going down hill more, even if he did not finish, he created opportunities for put backs, like the one Nic did...
