Props to whoever chose to skip preseason, never would have guessed we would start the season 5-1.

I watched the final 3 minutes or so in the overtime game vs Chicago or somebody. That's it.

Let me have my moment and say "I told you so" to the people trying to tell me that the preseason matters.

I also kept my prediction as third seed in the East (behind Celtics & Cav's). I only hope the injury/illness bug won't hurt too much (Batum looked pretty tired in second half yesterday, running through screens has its toll, he does not have MKG's body).

I really think the Hornets could play the 1st place in the East next sunday. With a reasonable chance to succeed. Not that it is highly significant this early in the season. But for Charlotte's pride, you might feel good with media recognition.

ESPN Insider Amin Elhassan pegs the 5-1 Hornets as a noteworthy storyline out of the East.
Elhassan: These aren't your daddy's Charlotte Hornets! Charlotte has quietly put together one of the best net ratings in the early part of the season, combining a surprisingly efficient offense with the trademark withering defense that they've been identified with since the arrival of coach Steve Clifford.

Lets not get too excited. We've beat four bad teams and one meh team. I like what I'm seeing, but we are still fairly untested. These next three games should be a good indicator of where we currently are as a team. I would feel so much better about these next games if we weren't ALWAYS DEALING WITH MULTIPLE INJURIES. I'm still cautiously optimistic.

We lost two of three last week and still moved up a spot to 6 on ESPN's power ranking, fourth in the EC behind CLE, TOR, and ATL.

That sounds about right. I'd put us on Toronto and Atlanta's tier. Even though we lost the last two both were winnable games, and the Toronto game in particular was just sloppy play over the last three minutes otherwise it was ours.

Still too early for anything definitive but we definitely seem in the mix for the 2nd or 3rd seed, which is exactly where you want to be in this conference.

Read on Twitter

Hornets top 3 in defensive efficiency, despite missing Hibbert and using a hobbled MKG for a good chunk of our games and having played teams with offensive efficiency currently ranked 3, 4, 6, 12, 15, 16, 18, 29, and 30 (averages out to 12). This could be a special team defensively.

Nobody predicted 7-3. Slam and Sauce predicted 8-2. YB and ChapelChilla predicted 6-4.

Thing is we coulda been 9-1 or 10-0. We blew some of those losses with missing wide open shots and that weird stretch in the Cleveland game. If we can get MKG and Marvin clicking, we are gonna be really awesome. Excited so far!
