The thing with Dwight is we have to sort of cater our offense to fit him. He doesn't do very much but score and a lot of players are capable of that. I think relying on Dwight less would make this team better.

For reference, his offensive points added are pretty pitiful according to TPA

Only 6 players in NBA have worse offensive points added than Dwight.

It’s the only way to explain MCW getting 32 minutes in a game where he’s shooting 1-10 and got 5 turnovers. You’re a Sixers fan I’m sure you know after seeing MCW for a few years. Guy is toxic waste.

I only watched the first half, was sick of seeing Batum getting torched by CJ Miles.

I thought playing MCW that many minutes on a night like tonight when both Monk and Lamb both had it going was almost inexcusable. With that said, it's been what? 4 years now, I don't expect Clifford to become a good in-game coach all of a sudden. His weaknesses as a coach are glaring and he's too stubborn to change it. Every season he seems to ride at least one or two players too much that shouldn't even be in the rotation. I guess MCW is this year's Jason Maxiell

Obviously I would take Fizdale in a second over Clifford if in the slight possibly he wanted to come here (why didn't Cho offer a trade??), but I think Clifford knows he's on the hot seat. He's starting to go outside his realm of comfort and tonight he even said its his fault for not getting the players ready.

When the players don't even try on defense, its a sure sign they aren't listening to the coach.

Thank god for Jeremy Lamb, he is actually giving it his all on both sides of the floor. Although this could be contract year Lamb but without him we would be 5 wins or less right now.

Maybe cuz the Raptors are a really good offensive team?

Just maybe?

Okay, but 71 points? I don't see you guys putting up 142 points on a nightly basis. But, thanks for the clarification.

The discussion here is less about not giving the Raps credit and more about some ongoing Charlotte issues.
My picks:
2020 Draft (3rd pick) - Tyrese Haliburton, Devin Vassell, or Onyeka Okongwu
2021 Draft (11th pick) - Moses Moody

Ok, but nobody puts up 142 nightly ... but ANY good offensive team is capable of doing it on any given night.

Had your statement been "How does our starting 5 composed of probably the 5 best defenders on the team give up 71 points?" then I wouldn't have commented. It's the "to the Raptors" that insinuates that the Raptors should not be able to do this.

Over the last several seasons, they have been a top tier offensive force, and this year, their attack is more diverse with a much stronger bench. They have had halves like that several times this year where they have monstrous explosions - and they have done it against good teams.

Only team we should be giving up 71 points in a half to is the Warriors.

It's not so much a slight on the Raptors, but on our team defense expectations. From our coach to the players, on paper the team last night should have been a great deal better in defense than they actually were. Maybe it was a chemistry issue with MCW being thrust into the starting lineup. I don't know, but I'm not about to sit here and say it's acceptable for the Raptors to put up 71 points on us in a half.

I respect your comment in terms of what you expect of your D ....

but as I say when I'm coaching teams and I have people frustrated with our performance in spots ... "The other team is trying to win too" LOL

So yes, your team, on paper has a defense where that shouldn't happen ... but when you are playing a very good offense that has done that to other teams this year, it's probable.

That's all.

It wasn't that the Raps scored 71. It was about defensive effort and attention to detail, which was not there in the 1st half.

We had three days rest. No excuse for the lack of effort.
