IMO our biggest problem on the second unit isn't ball movement, it's trash shooters. We constantly miss wide open / uncontested jumpers. Switching Batum for Lamb doesn't fix that.

Did you watch the game last night? Soon as the starters left we looked so lost. I am 100% confident batums playmaking could at least help that situation. We are using MCW as the playmaker for the second unit. How can you act like Batum wouldn't be an upgrade? Add the fact that we already seen we play fine without batum in the starting lineup and it's a no brainer that batum should be manning the second unit. but that's from my stand point and many other fans here. Ask the guy who's paying him 25 million a season and you will get a different answer because they don't want to admit they made a mistake

I actually did not watch last night, was at an event and box score checked until I saw we were getting smoked then tuned out.
Just seems kinda funny that Lamb folks love trashing Batum, but I guess will talk about how much value he has in organizing a team if it means Lamb gets to start.

I'm a supporter of Lamb for the starting unit, but I'm not trying to trash Batum. His playing style just more aligns with our uncoordinated 2nd unit. Lamb and Kemba don't need Batum telling them where to go and who to pass to.
The Charlotte Hornets will win their first round series against the Boston Celtics in the 2021 Playoffs

Nic is actually a decent catch and shoot guy when healthy. That's not really been Lamb's game even as he's shot more this year.
I've never really been on the Lambwagon, but this year he really is playing better with the starters and seems to fit there better. With MKG being aggressive lately I'm 100% on Nic to the bench, even if it's just an experiment.
My picks:
2020 Draft (3rd pick) - Tyrese Haliburton, Devin Vassell, or Onyeka Okongwu
2021 Draft (11th pick) - Moses Moody

If Batum is going to be stubborn and play he needs to stop shooting threes! Be a distributor off the drive and get a few layups and maybe midrange jumpers. His three point shot is the stink with his elbow in this condition.
Also it'd be nice to turn at least a peek toward the future. #freemonk

Trashing batum? He's getting paid 25 million a year and is playing like a career bench warmer. I remember Kembas first year in his contract which is less than half of Batum and everyone was "trashing" him routinely on a nightly basis. And Kemba was never as bad as batum is this season during his current contract. Batum deserves the criticism he's getting.

Joest bud you're proving my point. Criticism him all you want, but between him and Lamb who do you think would do the better job with the bench? If it's Lamb, then he should stay on the bench and Batum should keep the starting gig.

My advocation for Lamb starting over Batum has more to do with giving Kemba a more reliable scorer to play alongside. Lamb is simply a better scorer than Batum. The traits that Batum do offer like the ability to slow down and orchestrate a offense without trying to score first is what we need in our second unit since neither of MCW or Monk can do it.

That's what I'm saying. I honestly think Batum would do better off the bench. At least for a few weeks untill he is 100%. The bench needs a playmaker after last night it was so obvious they were completly lost with no game plan. Thats the whole purpose of a backup PG but unfortunately for us thats MCW. And really Lamb has not been good at all off the bench. All signs pointing for Batum to man the second unit. At least until he's healthy.
I don't like to be a prisoner of the moment and overreact to everything. I still think Batum is the better player but he is clearly dealing with injuries and Lamb was playing his best basketball with the stating lineup. Why not ride that out until Batum is back to 100% . Just my way of looking at it.

in favor of starting lamb, at least until batum gets healthy.
regardless, still doesn't solve the mcw, frank, monk problem. and god forbid JOB ever sees minutes.

Ya that's very true. We have a laundry list of problems. Hopefully time will improve the chemistry and it will work itself out. I actually think JOB got a few minutes last night I could be wrong because I wasn't to engaged after the 25-0 run the rockets went on.

I thought Batum was decent at least on defense in spurts. I'm good with moving him to the 2nd unit just to keep the ball out of MCW's hands more but Yosemite is right, the bench is so bad at moving without the ball and shooting that I doubt Batum helps that much.

I would bring Batum off the bench and run a nine man rotation as much as possible until Cody comes back.
Start Kemba/Lamb/MKG/Marv/Dwight. Sub Batum in early for Lamb and have Lamb and Batum start the 2nd quarter with Frank/Treveon/Monk. I would try to limit the bench minutes to Batum/Frank/Graham/Monk, in that order of priority. The 2nd unit would essentially be Batum/Monk/Lamb/Treveon/Frank. You can occasionally swap MCW/Bacon in for Monk if you really need defense in a specific matchup, but otherwise should just have Monk out there for 10 or so minutes playing the Troy Daniels role. We aren't at a place in the NBA where players who are huge minuses on offense (MCW/Bacon) and only average defensive players really have any purpose.
One of the main reasons I would start Lamb over Batum is simply because Lamb is one of the only players that can score consistently while Dwight is clogging the lane because he has the length to finish inside and has a great in between game. We should also use Frank at center more often with starters and have MKG fill in some minutes at PF.
