(1) How we are so **** at setting up lobs to Dwight. Marv had back to back just embarrassing lob attempts. MKG had several too. It's like we abandoned getting Dwight low post position in favor of trying to get him lobs, but didn't realize that we only have 1.5 guys in our starting lineup and MAYBE 1.5 guys on our bench with + passing skills. I could have told you encouraging MKG and Marv lobs to Dwight was a bad idea.
(2) In what universe is JOB a good idea at C against a MIA team missing Whiteside and with Olynyk and Bam in foul trouble for 70% of the game? I would honestly feel better with Graham at C than JOB. I personally don't like Frank at C, but if there was ever a game when we should have done that for extended minutes it was tonight. We ran Kemba - Lamb - MKG - Graham - Frank for a little bit (might have been Batum instead of MKG, can't remember) but only for a couple minute stretch in the second half.
(3) Frank is proving a disturbingly bad defender. Lost track of how many times he got beat in ISOs against Johnson + got burned in the PNR when his man rolled to the basket. For allegedly having such a high BBIQ, he can be so underwhelming on D.
(4) We have got to shoot more threes with our starters. We had 14 attempts, and Kemba had 10 of them. MKG has been fantastic in the midrange and it's **** time for him to put up threes. I'm sorry but it is. Shoot 20% if you have to, I don't care. Hell the corner threes can't be much farther than the top of the key midrange Js that he loves. We need more attempts from all of him, Marv, and Batum from three.
1) The lobs from Marv and MKG were laughable... like c'mon there's no way we are completing even 30% of those, right?
2) Tonight was a great opportunity to go small but we didn't. It was also a good time to use Frank at center and we did very little of that. This team is ridiculous with its rigid positions.
3) "Disturbingly bad defender" should be Frank's new nickname. I've lost count of the times he's been lunging at a 3 point shooter and after the guy buries it he gets visibly upset as if it can't possibly be his man again and there must be some sort of miscommunication.... i mean surely a few aren't his... but the numbers speak volumes...we are awful defensively when he's on the court. Also, he had a play tonight where he half heartedly went after an offensive rebound he had zero chance at covering enough ground to get while his man released and buried a 3 (wayne ellington). That kind of crap just drives me nuts.
4) Batum can't make the 3's and I'm assuming MKG just can't either. There's no other explanation for why he won't shoot them. It's absurd.
