caught this one after not seeing that many in the past month. maybe it's the fact that this is the first season where I'm not watching close to all the games, but, yeah, everything about this seemed horrible.
went on about Batum and Howard on defense with these Twitter clips:
some random thoughts which I had throughout the game:
- why would have anyone ever believed that the Dwight Howard experiment would work? I mean, look at how he has been these last years.
- Lee Jenkins does some great work. he must enjoy the connections he has with great athletes and the material he can produce. but I bet he wishes he would have never picked up that call from Dwight's agent. such a fluff piece. wonder whether he even believed it himself.
- a back-to-back game, about 20 hours to recover from the Portland game. yeah, it's tough. but, man, do Howard and Batum play the part of one of those "mid-2000s Eastern conference teams which gets to 35 wins with a bunch of overpaid veterans who just might be good enough for the organization to put more stock in that core".
- I feel sorry for Kemba.
- Dwight looked hopeless against Gobert. enjoyed how Gobert calmly dominated him.
- Kaminsky is still running around like a chicken with its head cut off. always out of place or asleep when the initial breaking of the defense happens, then gives it one bad close out to try and repair everything.
- what is it about him that he is just perennially making .333 of this threes. opponents are fine living with that (unless you can totally help off MCW).
- is MCW unlikeable or what? plays like crap and complains about every single call or non-call, to boot. not many guys that I've watched this year who have been more annoying than him.
- Monk probably gained some terrific NBA experience by watching the logistics of an NBA team playing in Portland and then travel to Utah for the next game. hope he got to carry Dwight's bags and learn not only the theory of it, but the practice of it as well.
- I've almost forgotten that MKG is a number two pick. you watch the game and every now and then it's like "heeey, there's MKG making a nice, little play". and you're happy with that. then you remember the context of everything.

im not gonna be blame howard for being glued to gobert when batum can't stay in front of one of the slowest guys in the league. dude went from being one of the better defenders in the league to acting like he's never seen a screen before
as for mkg... man, i don't even know. if the injuries have effected his aggression and timing as a 1 on 1 defender (they likely have) then he should be working more as a help defender/cheating off of the weakest covers instead. he's still young, and i definitely give him a pass for the two huge injuries, but the clock's definitely ticking now

Kemba/Monk/MKG/Frank/Zeller should be the starting lineup and getting as many minutes as possible so they can develop into something or get some more trade value
Besides having cool team colors, can we do at least one damn thing right on the basketball court
I'm with you ... but I'm also cool with whatever at this point. What Cliff is doing is probably the most effective tanking we could probably ask for from this team.
My picks:
2020 Draft (3rd pick) - Tyrese Haliburton, Devin Vassell, or Onyeka Okongwu
2021 Draft (11th pick) - Moses Moody

a nice thread popped up on the GB about Ingles as a result of his recent play. apparently he was untouchable during the trade deadline, he is deemed to important to that team
