good news (joking)

Post#1 » by powerforward » Wed Mar 21, 2018 9:28 pm

On tankathon lottery simulator 25% of the time we get top 3 pick. So lets start celebrating and picking apart who we should draft with top 3 pick.

Will we pick the next emeka?
Will we pick the next Morrison?
Will we pick the next MKG?

Lets day dream since we don't have much else to look forward to, let us pretend that the NBA rigs it to make up for the Davis draft and we pick our next disappointing rookie.

If we got a top 3 pick I’d my draft board would look like (1) Ayton (2) Bagley (3) Doncic.

I know Doncic is considered the consensus top pick by the experts but I’m still wary on the guy being a star in the NBA. At least with Ayton and Bagley I firmly believe in them being at least 18ppg scoring bigs that can extend out to the 3pt line. Doncic easily could end up being the best player of the three but Ayton and Bagley are the safe picks.

Beyond those 3 players I would trade down for a shot at one of Mikal Bridges or SGA. I love Trae Young too but not for us.

The NBA is a guard's league now. Having a great center is a luxury, not a necessity. I would swing for the fences with Doncic. Ayton and Bagley are OK I guess, but I would feel bad about spending a top 3 pick on a center.

I'm really leaning towards SGA as one of my top picks after Doncic. I really like Mikal too. I might offer a team like NY or Chicago #3 in exchange for their pick this year a future pick.
My picks:
2020 Draft (3rd pick) - Tyrese Haliburton, Devin Vassell, or Onyeka Okongwu
2021 Draft (11th pick) - Moses Moody

Maybe I need to see more of Doncic but I’ll openly admit that I have a bad prejudice against international players becoming stars. Every year they hype up a couple of them and they only turn into average players more often than not with Dirk (Giannis and Porzingis) being some of the few exceptions over the past 20 years.

I pick in order (1) Ayton (2) Bagley. Not sure about #3, but I wouldn’t pass on either of these big men for any guard at the top of this draft. Truly talented bigs are still vital. I’m actually encouraged that our most likely pick spot has some good player options at SF.
I continue to wait...and hope...for the return to Hornet's glory.

The Stepien which is the leading and most knowledgeable draft site with DraftExpress defunct got Doncic rated as the #1 prospect. Not just the #1 prospect but placed him as a Tier 1 prospect by himself with Ayton and Bagley being Tier 3. I can’t take much stock into that because they got Jaren Jackson as the #2 prospect in Tier 2 alone too and I think Jackson has the biggest bust potential in the lottery of this class lol.
