Yeah, I don't know enough about Larranga to have a strong opinion either way, but I would be ok if he ends up being the guy. He is young, known for player development, and has been studying under the premiere coach of the newer generation.

I'm guessing guys like Messina are probably showing lukewarm interest and will only be an option if they can't get hired to a better situation. Some of the more high profile guys might seem better on the surface, but there really isn't a lot of evidence that someone like Messina would necessarily be a better NBA coach than a less established candidate like Larranga.

I'd be fine with Budenholzer, Messina, Udoka, Larranga, and Stackhouse. I'm a bit more skeptical of some of the others.

Laranaga was who I voted for...just hoping to tap in to some of that Brad Stevens magic.

Looks like Ettore wants a lot of money

If we take one of those two, I expect a rebuild. Hopefully we can get a top pick in this draft

I don't think us deciding to go with a younger coach indicates a rebuild is coming. It may be inevitable, which may scare away guys like Messina or Bud, but I don't think the decision Mitch ends up making indicates one direction or another.

Outside of lottery luck, the highest pick we can realistically hope to trade for is the Cavaliers pick.

He should be not trying to find him. He should be trying to find her. Becky Hammon.

Care to explain why you think Becky Hammon is the right choice?

She is damn smart. Popovich thinks she is ready now.

I found an awesome video interview of Jay Larranaga and Antonio Daniels (who was later a top 5 pick) when they were college seniors playing together at Bowling Green:

What makes her a better candidate than the others?

I've been on the Hammon train since they fired Cliff.

1. The fact that she had to work and prove herself to get to this level of assistant coach in the NBA as a woman means that she had to be that much better, have more drive, and couldn't coast on name recognition of being a former NBA player. She had to work and claw to get to where she was, and for our market and team, we need someone who will fight and claw for our relevance.

2. She has Pop's endorsement that she is ready. She's coached summer league, and knows what she's doing. She worked with San Antonio's players and helped get them to the playoffs. Really is our roster worse than the Spurs who didn't have Kawhi this year? I don't think we have a lack of talent, we have lack of creativity and system to utilize our talents properly.

3. It wouldn't kill us to have some relevance around the league. The Bucks are interviewing her and are getting good buzz, we need some relevance here. We are literally the forgotten laughingstock of the league. I want to think outside the box and let's see it happen.

Udoka and Stackhouse are my personal two favorites.

Personally I'm fine with Hammon, but I have 0 confidence that MJ, Mitch, and co are the right FO for her.
My picks:
2020 Draft (3rd pick) - Tyrese Haliburton, Devin Vassell, or Onyeka Okongwu
2021 Draft (11th pick) - Moses Moody

Why would Stackhouse get any love? Hes coached a D league team for 2 seasons. Has anyone else interviewed him?

I'm assuming that by trading Kemba, the best you think we could do is the 8th pick?

Mitch should offer Jay Larranaga the job before the weekend is over. He's been with Brad Stevens from the beginning in Boston. Ainge actually interviewed him for the HC postion (when he had zero NBA experience) and liked him so much he convinced Stevens to make him his lead assistant. He also has experience at every level of basketball - youth prep, collegiate, international, and 6 years of learning under Brad Stevens. And that's not even mentioning the fact that he was born in Charlotte. He's a great fit for what the organization needs, hire him Mitch.
