Miles Bridges - A

Of the consensus top 10 prospects, Porter and Miles were there at 11-12. Given that Porter may not even play this year, Miles was the obvious choice. I went more in-depth on this a month or so ago in the Miles thread, but I really think he's been undervalued since returning to school. Here's really everything you want out of a modern wing: two-way player, 3-point range, multi-positional defender. That's a heck of a pick at the end of the lottery.

(I think it's worth noting, too, that we didn't choose Shai over Miles and then trade him for picks. SGA said he knew before putting on the hat that it was only temporary, and Phoenix was also trying to move up to get him. You also don't trade a player you really like for 2nd rounders. Sounds like we were having discussions with Phoenix and then leveraged LAC; Bridges was always the target.)

Devonte Graham - B

The pick itself is fine, not who I would've picked but fine. Personally I like taking a swing over a guy who's likely a career backup, but he does address an immediate need.

I'm giving it a high grade though because we created a high second round pick out of thin air. We essentially traded 11 for 12 and 34 and still got our first round target.

Hamidou Diallo - TBD

I swear if this is just for cash...

Pretty clear the goal was two rookies + a stash, maybe they tried to move this one for 34 but the Hawks preferred a future pick.

Arnoldas Kulboka - C

Won't pretend to know anything about this guy, but this was pretty much telegraphed. Neutral because I don't know the guy, but it's nice to have an international prospect.

Overall - B

C. Underwhelmed for now. Miles at least seems like a guy who'll be fun to watch regardless if he helps net us more W's. Would've preferred walking away with a swing-for-the-fences MPJ and solid rotation guy in Khyri Thomas.

This is probably the first time in a while there have been broad opinions on how we did at the draft. Usually almost all of us are either happy or mad.

This years draft was super interesting. When I first started viewing the players I really liked Carr and Martin and Hutchinson.
Then I began to like Miles and Mikal and MKP but briefly. Then I was so much of a fan of YuTa and Edwards. Then on draft day
about 6 hours before I became a fan of zhaire who I did not like at all leading up to the draft. I wondered who I would take
between zhaire and Yuta and I was leading towards zhiare only because I said if I were a GM I think they would not allow
me to take Yuta so early. Man I woulda been super happy if I were a GM and drafted zhaire and Yuta who I didn't know would
be there

I think it's tough to justify any grade other than a B. They got a good looking prospect when it looked like they had a pretty awful draft pick in a weak draft.

It's closer to an A than a C, but I'd wait to make sure he's good before I went that far

Jonathan Wasserman (Bleacher Report) gave the Miles pick a B rating. He thinks Bridges is a perfect fit for the Hornets because he can provide scoring at the 3/4 spots and he can start right away for Charlotte. He sees Bridges as a Larry Johnson type of player.

I'm sorry this is the dumbest player comparison I've ever seen. Larry Johnson was my favorite player growing up. Still got the jersey. Had the sneakers. Had the cardboard cutout figures. All of it.

Larry Johnson was a F'ng Dawg. Larry Johnson would dunk on his own mother. If you were in an alley with Larry Johnson you're not coming out of that alley okay. Miles Bridges would probably offer you his jacket.

Mario Hezonja makes Frank Kaminsky look like Larry Bird. He is the last guy you want. I've never seen an NBA player that can't dribble before.

Arnoldas Kulboka will play in the NBA one day. I just hope its for us.

B because I don't know if there was really an 'A' out there to draft. I'm a gambling man and would've rolled the dice on Porter, Jr but with our team's medical staff he probably would've broken into two pieces after the first hard fall for us.

I have doubts that Graham will be good enough to be an NBA backup but I have nothing to base that off of other than he went to Kansas for 4 years which usually means he's terrible.

Read this thread about Porter ... "He'll be lucky to be walking in 15 years let alone playing sports."
Read on Twitter

Anyway, I voted B. I like Miles and was happy with the pick, but it didn't feel like a no-brainer the way Monk and Mitchell did last year. The strategy for the 2nd round left me a bit confused and there were a couple of guys that the team passed on that I thought could have been good picks.
My picks:
2020 Draft (3rd pick) - Tyrese Haliburton, Devin Vassell, or Onyeka Okongwu
2021 Draft (11th pick) - Moses Moody

Id take a few great years out of Porter Jr ala Brandon Royish than I would drafting a bumb. Nothing to do with Miles, loved the pick. Just sayin..

It is a lazy comparison but don't let Miles laid back nature off of the court fool you, he's got some dog in him (compliment) once he steps in between those lines!

One thing I think is interesting to look at is if you mixed last years draft and this years draft... where would players line up.. I think Ayton Doncic and Bagley are all number 1 picks in last year draft.

This is probably just my stupid blind optimism kicking in, but I'm growing on the pick. Still don't love it by any stretch, I'm changing my rating from a D to a C.
