I'd like to see them maintain the defensive identity they established last year with no backsliding.

Rather than shooting for the moon with the ECF or Finals, I'll be satisfied to make the playoffs every year and always be in the conversation about who might win the Eastern Conference. It's going to be hard to get past the Bulls and Cavs for the next couple of years, so I'm not going to get frustrated if we don't.

Player wise, I'd love to see MKG and Biz develop enough offensively to where they can be on the floor in any situation.

I think we're set as far as increased fan interest between the rebranding and our overall improvement.

Be fun to watch
My picks:
2020 Draft (3rd pick) - Tyrese Haliburton, Devin Vassell, or Onyeka Okongwu
2021 Draft (11th pick) - Moses Moody

You know, during the entire Bobcats existence, they never even once had a top-20 offense. I believe the best season they were able to put together offensively still ended up being the seventh worst offense in the the league.

I would like to see us maintain a top-10 defense while at least posting a top-15 offensive rating.

I always hate seeing Charlotte drop games against the Sixers, Magic, Bucks, etc. so if we could drop as few of those meetings, it would put our team in a strong spot every season.

Also, everyone would love to see some more games like Game 2 of the Playoffs for MKG. I'm not saying he has to put up those numbers every game, but if he could just add 3-5 more games like that each season.

Well, this thread is depressing.
The Charlotte Hornets will win their first round series against the Boston Celtics in the 2021 Playoffs

Still pissed off that Lance didn't work out. I thought the dude was gonna finally bring us out of our eternal irrelevance. Most on the blame goes on him for not working out, but Cliff's legendary Alfense system certainly didn't help either
Your Charlotte Hornets! We’ll eventually get something right;right?

EwingSweatsALot wrote:With our recent upward swing, playoff appearance, and willingness and ability to sign free agents what can this franchise do over the next 5years to satisfy/meet your expectations. Do we have to make a Finals appearance in that time span, ECF appearance, multiple mid level playoff seedings, etc?

I know it is a broad question and many things can happen in that time period with the constant moving of players and positions in conference, but do you have a goal in your mind of what this franchise should accomplish? Some people are championships or bust and some are just OK with making the playoffs. I just wanted to gauge the fan base on what would make them happy over the next 5 years.

Personally, I would go with four playoff appearances out of five years, and possibly an ECF birth. It's hard to make the playoffs in this league five straight years due to injury and what not. I think if we can get four out of five years, and an ECF birth I will be happy(this is based on how bad the East is). I would like to see us keep our deserving rookies and still continue to spend money on FAs like we have been. I don't think we can accomplish the four out of five without continuing to progress to get better and that starts with spending money. I also would like to see our rookies develop better. This is a huge weakness for us and rather detrimental to our progression as a franchise. If we can step it up in player development I feel confident this franchise can take off.

Obviously even though nobody wants to hear it for the fear of the Sixers horrendous seasons it is a process but there is more than one way to skin a cat, see Raps finally getting out of the first round, they may not be the best example for long-term success but it proved my more than one way to win theory. The first step is obviously getting out of the first round of the playoffs, if we can accomplish this within the next two seasons then I won't be satisfied with anything less than one ECF berth towards the middle / end of the next five years. I don't think that is too much to ask. If JB proves to be Great with player development then I may expect more than one ECF trip, I have to see him at work first but so far things are looking up. Just realized this is a bumped thread, this is my next 5 year plan.
