High steals, great handles, perimeter defender, above average vision, creative playmaker, range shooter. If this is all about size, keep in mind this is backup PG we're talking about. He will tear up second stringers.

I’m getting that expectations may be a bit high. Let’s start with signing/trading for a competent backup for the first time in 3years. If they can guard wings players, that’s a plus.

Also Luc Bah Mute would be a nice pick up if his shoulder injury has healed up. I wanted to grab him last season and he signed for the minimum. He’d be a cheap option to fill a defensive void if we trade one of MKG or Marv.

I feel similar. Hes really not a good overall fit because of his size. We'll be spending a lot of the game playing two of Kemba/Monk/Napier and MKG is the only above average perimeter defender on the team, so we're going to give up lots of points if we go that route.

At this point I'm cool with it because at least we'll be fun and entertaining and you can definitely win a decent amount of games these days with good offense and below average defense. Tyreke and maybe Exum/Smart were about the only possible options that would really maximize our roster, so getting a good player that will contribute to the team at least being watchable isn't a bad consolation prize.

Exactly.

Hey, let's sign a backup PG with the MLE who can guard wings 1-3.

That player is available for MLE?

Tyreke got 12
Exum got 11

Who is this mystery MLE target?

Bradley too, he got paid. The way things were going for a bit, I thought the market had shut down and we might be in the running with only the MLE on for these guys. Too good to be true.

I’d love to put an offer down for Smart, but we’d just be tying up our cash and could miss out on Napier.
If Napier gets picked up though, might as well throw it out there. Otherwise we’re looking at Tony Parker; more hopefully we have some kind of trade lined up.

MLE to Smart is a waste of time. It's time to focus on Napier.

I think the market raced past our paltry MLE, and we are left with chicken bones for the price of sirloins.

Time to trade with Cleveland, mega deal to get Love and a reserve PG. Give em Marvin, MKG, Lamb and a pick. Whatever. Do it so we are relevant with Kemba this year.

If not, trade Kemba for a great restart deal and begin that phase.

Otherwise we are stuck with the same problems (Batum, Marvin salaries, MKG blocking Miles development) and little $ to sign Kemba next year. Yes we will be better, but enough to matter? I guess I prefer bold versus tiny tweaks.
I continue to wait...and hope...for the return to Hornet's glory.

No doubt, I love the new coaching and GM staff. That was past due and bold.
