Re: Question for MKG love dome about his minutes
Unless traded I see MKG being first off the bench to sub for Batum at 3, with a little time at 4 depending on matchups. If you can’t trade him you need to see what he CAN provide that might raise his contribution level or trade value. Miles may play some but he is not looking anywhere close to being ready for rotation minutes. Mitch called Miles a project on tv.
I continue to wait...and hope...for the return to Hornet's glory.

Re: Question for MKG love dome about his minutes
I'm really intrigued/excited to see how positions 2-4 shake out. We've had a few hints that the team is getting smaller: Batum to SF, Monk getting more time at SG, Bridges playing 2-4 (and if you see him as a 4, MKG and Bacon have basically the same profiles). These positions are almost interchangeable in the modern game and I think we could see some really interesting lineups.
Guards are Kemba, Parker, Graham, Monk*
Bigs are Cody, Frank, Willy, and Biz
(*Monk is probably our only SG that leans closer to PG than SF, so he goes into both groups)
Virtually any 3 of Batum, MKG, Marvin, Lamb, Monk, Bridges, and Bacon can share the court between a guard and center; which could be really fun.

Re: Question for MKG love dome about his minutes
Borrego said MKG is useful for defense and as an energy guy, adding he will help in transition. If they're stuck with the contract (they are), JB can find ways to help MKG make an impact. JB kind of mocked Clifford and said he wouldn't just throw MKG into a corner. So as far as playing uptempo, MKG still has some upside. JB even said MKG can do some playmaking. That's far-fetched to me but we will see.
Is there a place for Marvin on the team?

Re: Question for MKG love dome about his minutes
I'd love to see Borrego utilize as much of our crazy deep bench as possible. In my eyes, Kemba is the only player on the team that would definitely see 30+ minutes a game on a contender, Nic or MKG might depending on the makeup of the team, but most likely not. Luckily we have a crazy amount of players who would see 20-30 minutes to balance that out.
Kemba (32mpg) / Parker (8) / Monk (8)
Lamb (24) / Monk (16) / Batum (8)
Batum (16) / MKG (16) / Bridges (16) (Batum/MKG can swap out starting duties based on matchup)
Marvin (20) / Kaminsky (20) / MKG (8)
Zeller (20) / Biyombo (14) / Hernangomez (14) (center minutes distribution varies a lot by matchup)
Kemba - 32
Batum - 24
MKG - 24
Lamb - 24
Monk - 24
Zeller - 20
Kaminsky - 20
Marvin - 20
Bridges - 16
Biyombo - 14
Hernangomez - 14
Parker - 8
Not many teams play 12-man rotations, but not many teams are legitimately 12 deep, with only 1 all-star and 11 role players

What is the point of a 12 man rotation though?

Well Bonnell wrote an article saying MKG was probably done so best I can figure is that he'll play 35 mpg and win MIP.

Does Frank and Marv playing 20 minutes instead of 24 minutes really keep them fresher?
This just screams impractical to me.

Don't think there's any way we play more than 9 regularly.

Re: Question for MKG love dome about his minutes
MKG doesn't have too much use in the modern NBA. I hope Miles is able to dig into his minutes or he is traded before the season begins
Your Charlotte Hornets! We’ll eventually get something right;right?

He will see minutes coming off the bench early in the year. He will be earning DNPCDs late in the year if he is not traded.
My picks:
2020 Draft (3rd pick) - Tyrese Haliburton, Devin Vassell, or Onyeka Okongwu
2021 Draft (11th pick) - Moses Moody

Re: Question for MKG love dome about his minutes
Cody, Frank, Willy, and Biz should only be playing center. This is where our real log jam is, but Cody might not be healthy and Willy might not be good enough to receive any real minutes.
Marvin Williams can play center or forward but his best position is center.
Batum and MKG can play SF or PF which are totally interchangeable.
Miles Bridges won't play much because he isn't ready.
I see it playing out as:
Kemba (34) Parker (10) Graham (4)
Lamb (28) Monk (20)
Batum (30) MKG (13) Lamb (2) Miles Bridges (3)
Marvin (30) MKG (16) Miles Bridges (2)
Biz (20) Frank (20) Cody (6-health) Willy (2)
so the 8 man rotation would be
Kemba - 34
Lamb - 30
Monk - 20
Batum - 30
Marvin - 30
MKG - 29
Frank - 20
Biz - 20 (replace with Cody if healthy)
This allows us to play 4 out lineups of:
Kemba
Lamb/Monk
Batum
Marvin
Biz
or
Kemba
Lamb/Monk
MKG
Batum/Marvin
Frank
but our best lineup would be
Kemba

Batum

Marvin

Marvin

Re: Question for MKG love dome about his minutes
Really impossible to say what could happen at this point, barring a trade that clears things up.
Ideally I'd prefer Borrego treat Marv/Frank as hot-hand players. If their shots are falling, let them play. If they're off, nail them to the bench and don't look back. To be honest I'd like this approach for Batum too (except substitute missed/made shots for moronic turnovers vs smart passes) but that will never, ever happen I'm afraid.
In the case of MKG I'd deploy him for about 15-20 minutes a game with perhaps more for situational defensive matchups. If push comes to shove Miles needs the extra PT over MKG, he's the only SF/PF on our team whose minutes I want to be essentially guaranteed even if it's only 15-20 a night initially and 20-25 by the end of the year.

Re: Question for MKG love dome about his minutes
I'd like to see how some of these guys look at the start of the season and adjust it from there. If MKG looks the same as last season or has regressed, he should get less minutes. If he's made some improvements and/or looks better in the new system, he should get more minutes. Same for everyone else.
It's kind of a lameass obvious response, but it's something we didn't do last season under Clifford, where Lamb looked really good to start the year but didn't get much of a minute increase while MCW was garbage and kept getting minutes.

Re: Question for MKG love dome about his minutes
I don't know we have a log jam at the 3 and pretty dire straights at the 2 & 4.
I think the starting lineup is:
Kemba
Lamb
Batum
Marv
Cody
I think he's coming off the bench to play the 3/4. I don't really know how the bridges/mkg/bacon minutes are gonna shake out. I really hope miracle happens and cody/mkg can suddenly hit corner 3s.

HOLY CRAP!
It cost the Nuggets a FIRST ROUND PICK + a second round pick to unload Faried's contract. I can't think of a player and contract more similar to MKG.
Congratulations. He's not going anywhere.

I dunno, Nuggets could do with a defensive small forward now
