I'd also be interested in zeller and your first for khris. Would that Work? I think if you're trying to hang onto kemba, khris could be a really good second option next to him.

It's interesting you feel Middleton could fetch a useful rotation player + pick 10. I would think pick 10 or 11 alone is fair value for Middleton. To make the salaries work, I'd be willing to attach the pick to MKG or Marvin Williams. That's pick 10 or 11 for Middleton. Can another team beat that? It's hard to imagine.

I was thinking that you have 4 centers on your roster who are serviceable it seems - and cody is on a sizable contract. This would give you some more cap space to sign walker. Not to mention you get to see if you like the middleton kemba combo for a year.

We need Cody more than MKG because we need Dwight to expire so we can max out Kemba. Cody is here to stay and Frank should settle in as a power forward. Hernangomez can back up both front court spots. Adding a wing like Middleton makes MKG expendable. Having Frank and Hernangomez makes Marvin expendable. The Dwight situation makes Cody part of the future. I don't think the Bucks can get a better pick than 10/11 for Middleton.

Now quick, trade him for a raw 18 year old, (Sexton?). Hurry before he has a chance to appear as a Hornet in the all-star game in Charlotte!

“As far as seeing me in New York, I doubt it,” Walker replied. “I’m a Hornet, and I’m planning on being a Hornet for a long time, so, yeah, I’m not sure about that (New York).”

A lot can change in a year, but this is still great to hear.

The Hornets did their due diligence last winter on Kemba's trade value, and, to my sensibilities, they've made the decision to keep him. Not just that, to make him the centerpiece of the franchise. Smart move.

We'll never know the internal dialogue that goes on, so the Hornets may still trade him, but if they've made the reasonable decision to craft the roster around Walker, the front office will also have decided to take the gamble of Kemba reaching free agency. It's the only way they'll be able to offer him the contract he deserves anyway, so it's a calculated gamble.

Everything I've read or heard in the media suggests that Walker wants to be in Charlotte. I think the city fits his personality. Kemba's always been the reluctant Alpha, which kind of describes the city...not too big but plenty of attitude to stand up to the big guys when the going gets tough. It's an awesome location for any person not wanting to party or jonesing for a monster shoe contract. Kemba Walker and Charlotte fit each other, which is why I think the narrative from him wanting to stay here has been consistent.

I hope the only thing left to debate regarding Kemba Walker's status in Charlotte is the SIZE of his next contract.

Kemba's response was to the question below.

Kemba Walker, who will earn $12 million this season before becoming an unrestricted free agent in the summer of 2019, was asked if we could ever see himself in New York for a homecoming.

I don't have access to the article.

Maybe all the people discussing trading Kemba on this board will die down. He wants to stay, and the organization will make it happen. It would be terrible PR for us to trade him. A franchise needs all-star level players who spend their entire career with them. This isn't 2k and when you start trading guys left and right or not resigning guys, then no-one will look to stay here long-term.

With the stuff Kemba is saying we are tied together. He'll get his max after the year and Mitch will work on managing the team. At least with Kemba earning the sportsmanship award, he won't be scaring any free agents away.
The Charlotte Hornets will win their first round series against the Boston Celtics in the 2021 Playoffs
