Hurricane Flourence OT

Post#1 » by Trippinskarlo » Tue Sep 11, 2018 7:21 pm

Hey my friends,

Hope you are all doing well, seems as though we're gonna get hit hard. I'm in Greenville NC and heading towards Boone area. Stay safe guys. Any new info post, believe it's really supposed to hit Thursday. Open to any and all tips as I'm from Maine and have never dealt with a hurricane! Trying to secure my little house and bounce! God bless.

follow Brad for Charlotte weather updates. He's the best. biggest problem for those inland, in eastern NC/VA will be massive rain->flooding. Storm looks to stall and sit over eastern NC for Friday-Sunday. Im on a disaster recovery call for work ATM. :-?

My county Down East has issued a mandatory evacuation, so believe it or not, my family and I are headed to Charlotte. Where are the Hornets when I need them?

Getting back may present a problem if major highways are blocked by fallen trees. I do not expect to have electrical power when we return, although the forecasts are changing all the time.

track moving south, later arrival for Charlotte. More rain for Charlotte than thought, less winds. Could be some major flooding along creeks, streams in area - Sugar, McAlpine, McMullen, Briar etc... 7-11 inches of rain possible Fri-Mon

Looks like we may be spared up here in the Triangle but I hope those south of here can weather the storm, literally...

Lost power for 24 hours when a tree fell across the power line about a block from my house. This was before the weather even got bad. Could be much much worse, feeling really bad for those people on the coast right now. Plus the flooding over the next few days is going to be out of control in some areas.

The wind is no fun. Power has gone in and out. One of the few people though in my area to still currently have power (hope I didnt jinx it)

We left Charlotte on Saturday and stayed with friends in the Triangle. Then we waited for roads to open up and finally made it home at noon on Tuesday. The power just came back on. We were lucky because the next-door neighbors did not leave and called in the outage several days ago. Now we have a giant oak tree lying across the back yard until March or so, but otherwise we are lucky.
