Man if this team had a center that was just average defensively, average on the glass and even slightly below average offensively we’d be soooo much better

maybe we could strike a deal with cleveland for TT he a decent center and would give us what we need don't know what would be the asking price for him through.

I think the no 2nd option matters more for injury insurance and for the playoffs. Its our biggest long term issue when you look at the big picture, but it might not be the biggest reason we find ourselves losing games to teams like Atlanta, Chicago, and Cleveland.

It definitely still makes it difficult for our offense to close games even in the regular season, but all of those close regular season losses where our offense has struggled down the stretch could have just as easily been won by simply having a better defense.

Also, don't underestimate the gravity a center creates by being able to finish at the rim and catch lobs. Our late game offense probably wouldn't be as easy to defend if the defense couldn't just ignore our roll man at the rim and sell out to cover perimeter threats.

We don't have a single rotation big on the roster who is a vertical spacer. WHG is the only big we have who can even finish at the rim after a dump off if there is any traffic at all. None of them can protect the rim. Its almost unbelievable that Cho/Cliff/MJ spent so much of our resources over the last 5 years on bigs and we still don't have a single true 4/5 thats a complete player. Like, imagine how much different this current team would be if you simply swapped out one of our centers for Steven Adams.


Our defense is mediocre at best when fully healthy and basically sucks if MKG isn't playing.

We don't have a #2 scoring option, which certainly has its downsides, but we are still 6th in the league in ppg. I can't tell if this is really as big of an issue as we think, at least relative to some of our other issues.

The worst thing is that Vonleh matches most of that.

He is averaging 8/8 on 48/41/74 in just 25mins. Averaging a double-double with 2.5ast and 1.5blk his past 5 games.

Its like Tobias Harris almost, we drafted a player that is what we need right now but we traded them for junk. Harris for Biz and Noah for Nic. Its one of the main reasons i am a bit nervous about trading Monk, i think there is a decent chance we trade him and he ends up better than whoever we get in the deal.

Yeah, I'm totally with you on not wanting to trade Monk. I'm ok with trading Vonleh because it was apparent he didn't have the intangibles to ever be a star and his ceiling was more of a role player. Not wanting to wait 5 years for someone to become a potentially good role player is understandable. Monk is a project, but he actually has the ability to become an elite scorer.

Cody Zeller is so beyond disappointing to me its mind boggling. I honestly thought he'd average 13 and 7 as a great rim runner pick and roll big. Hes just garbage right now.

This team is just lacking a great distributor, floor general. Kemba is a great scorer, but he is not making his teammates better like some great PG do.

This seems like an odd response. Cody regularly turns down shots and driving opportunities.

Or get blocked by a SF.

I'd love to see the +/- of Kemba with and without Cody. I'm going to assume he does much better with Cody on the floor.

We’re losing these games in the trenches and intangibles. The only players on this team that I know are capable of making the necessary hustle or defensive play to win a game is Kemba and MKG. You’d think Cody could since he’s essentially a hustle guy when he’s on the floor but when’s the last time he took a charge, got a block, or a big rebound that has helped us win a game. He’s nonexistent in the clutch because he get pushed and bullied around most of the time.
