All signs point to Kemba staying. How bad would an ownership look to trade away a player that scored 60 points and looks on pace for a career year? Key now is to find out who to trade to make this team competitive. Can't be satisfied with another 8-10 seed this season with so much going on and the spotlight on Charlotte during the ASG.

Michael Jordan says no. We wouldn't get equal value back with his 12 million $ contract even if we were slightly intrigued. So, no.

I don’t think a definitive opinion on this matter could be made until late January. Depending on where we’re at in the standings and who’s available a lot can change (or not).

Looking at where we’re at right now as a 7th seed only 3 games aback from having home court advantage in the first round of the playoffs with the ASG coming to Charlotte it’s highly unlikely he’ll get traded by the deadline.

I still believe that there’s a chance he walk in the offseason though even if we do make the playoffs.

When has Kupchak ever said he wanted to?

Last year MJ said he would only consider a Kemba trade if he got another all-star in return, which is basically the same as just saying 'no I won't trade him' because there is no star-for-star swap available with anywhere near matching salary.

Unless Kemba makes very clear (either in private or through the media) that he is gone in July I don't expect any trade to happen. If he walks that's his prerogative, but MJ/Kupchak will not make themselves the bad guy and trade away the best player in franchise history to chase lotto balls again. The fan base would revolt and it would destroy much of the momentum the organization has built since the name change.

At this point I am 99% sure the organization's plan is to make the playoffs, sell Kemba on the idea of clearing the deck when Batum/Marv/Biz all expire, then trying to convince him to accept some sort of hometown discount (still higher than what others can offer, but less then full super max).

This team is not going anywhere, and at 28, it's probably Kemba's highest trade value. Unless the team is on a win now mode and looking to trade for a second and third star, they should trade him for a few 1st round picks.

The trading ship for Kemba has sailed. Kupchak did a looksy prior to the season and determined that they'll have to wait until Kemba's contract expires and attempt to re-sign him. Trading was never really an option, but, hey, due diligence...

A good GM never closes all the windows, but I think the organization has made up its mind to attempt to re-sign their franchise star. They'll have to let the contract expire, however, to offer the kind of contract Walker will accept, so there's a risk. But it's the most logical, and correct, course of action.

Kemba is going to be in his early 30s when they expire. :(

Cho & Co must’ve didn’t consider the fact that they may have to offer Kemba the max in 2019 when they signed Batum and Marv to those contracts, did they?

Or was trading Kemba all a part of Cho’s plan?

Cho's only plan was to fake it as a GM as long as possible. Fortunately for him he likely has significant equity in his Providence Plantation home. Charlotte blew up. I doubled my money when they finished the highway from 74 off 485 to Monroe.

Is Cho the worst GM in the history of Charlotte sports? I mean Bickerstaff was an equally bad drafter but he didn't tie us up like this

We didn't have a typical front office situation during the Cho era. It was a collective effort by the front office. Cho/MJ/Cliff/Buzz/Polk all deserve their fair share of the blame.

Cho's biggest failure was the summer of 2016. Unfortunately, the bill for that failure is due this summer. I don't envy the job that Mitch has in front of him. He more or less has to pull another Pau Gasol trade out of his hat to get this team where it needs to be.

You all act like MKG and Cody's injuries never happened. This is where the plan went south, even though the worst part was to keep Batum instead of Lin. But it's easier to say this in 2018. Back in 2016 the overall consensus was to keep as many players as possible. Knowing many were hiting free agency unfortunately at the worst time coinsidering all the cap space available in the league.

I am not Clifford or Cho's advocates, but the only real mistake from Cho is that 5th year on Batum's contract. The timing was bad too (Olympics for France) and at the very least, not a lot could have expected such a drop in performance (even though everyone here acknowledged that the contract was a huge overpay). You can add that MJ himself had phoned to Batum saying he wanted him since a long time (that was what he said at least here back in time), and last but not least, Kemba and MKG were in the room to convince Batum to accept a deal here (yeah, sounds funny now).

Also, from blazers time, Cho was above all a cap manager. he took over once Pritchard got sacked (and from what we have seen, Pritchard aint that bad too).

Kaminsky is arguably the stupidest move of this franchise (i did not believe it before i read the full story) and it has nothing to do with Cho.
Players should be held accountable. The real culprit here is Batum and the fact he accepts to be the ghost of the player he was after geting his fat contract. If he was still in his 2016 averages, things would most likely look different (and last couple of years too). But between him, Noah, Deng, Parssons ... 2016 and 2017 have been full of stupid moves.

Read on Twitter

The entire thread is worth a look, and it's interesting how many other rookies, other than Miles, are in the negatives. Batum being in the top 3 three for the Hornets though ... that I was not expecting.
My picks:
2020 Draft (3rd pick) - Tyrese Haliburton, Devin Vassell, or Onyeka Okongwu
2021 Draft (11th pick) - Moses Moody

Raw plus/minus stats making Batum appear useful don’t mean anything when he’s a negative both offensively and defensively in advanced real plus/minus stats.

I’m happy they deleted that tweet because it was nonsense.

Batum's money, mintues role is supposed to be the Pippen beside Kemba, when your Pippen is playing like Batum, your team is going nowhere.
