If we do trade for Love, i would try to include a Zeller-Thompson swap in the trade.

Love and TT for Nic and Cody and a draft pick?

At the least, our rebounding would be way better.

a more expansive trade

Love, TT, Burks for Nic, Cody, Marvin and a draft pick or two. (protected 1st and a 2nd)

I always liked and wanted Love, but unless we are unloading major bummer contracts to get him it’s not worth it. I suspect they will get better offers closer to what they want from Boston (lots of picks to work with) or other teams. Love is good but diminishing in durability and effectiveness; not a good thing with the size of his contract.

Admittedly I don’t think there is a trade out there that brings the players needed to combine with Kemba for great success within the next 4 year window. I was promoting trading Batum for Jabari Parker, who reportedly is not getting much interest. Is that good change? Yes. Does it make a big difference? Not likely.
I continue to wait...and hope...for the return to Hornet's glory.

The main interest with the Parker trade is that it removes Batum from the book since Parker's second year is a team option. Even if Charlotte is not a 'place to be' for top free agents, it's still the money that can convince the most reluctant, knowing flexibility is what this team is lacking the most to strengthen the roster.
A Parker/Batum swap would not necessary cost a lot of picks (maybe not even a 1st), even though the ideal would have been to get both Holiday & Parker and Borrego could have two wings who are plus defenders (Holiday & MKG) to make up for all the 'mistakes' - i am being nice - from the backcourt (Graham apart).

I doubt Love would get the calls he gets in Cleveland also. If it's a move to see a player wasting minutes to discuss with the referees after some no calls while the other team is playing the transition like what happens with TP 25% of the time, that would sure look well on the court.

Only way we even consider it is to get rid of Batum

Parker is probably worse than Batum, but I'm down with a trade involving the two as long as the front office is doing it purely as a salary dump.

Would Boston include Hayward in a Love trade? I feel without unloading Salary Boston is gonna cripple their team in the future. They have to resign Irving, and they’re going to have to pay Brown and Tatum. With that Hayward contract, where do they get this money? I don’t think Boston takes this risk especially with the fact they could attract FAs and the risk associated with an aging big man with injury issues.

Kevin Love

Box Score (shooting splits)
19.0/11.1/1.9/0.9/0.4 (42.7/37.3/87.1)
17.6/9.3/1.7/0.7/0.4 (45.8/41.5/88.0)

RPM (League Rank)(ORPM/DRPM)
2016/2017: +5.03 (12)(+2.77/+2.26)
2017/2018: +3.40 (27)(+1.81/+1.59)

Box +/- (OBPM/DBPM)
2016/2017: +0.8 (+1.7/-0.9)
2017/2018: +1.3 (+2.7/-1.5)

VORP
2016/2017: +1.3
2017/2018: +1.4

TS%
2016/2017: 57.3%
2017/2018: 61.4%

There is actually a lot of reason to believe he'd be productive here when he gets back. His recent injury isn't something that should effect him long term at all and he was good the last two seasons in Cleveland. His offensive role here would be perfect and hes actually a good fit overall on the roster. He would cause a ripple effect with the rotation where his presence at PF would mean Marv could play more minutes at center, which is great in general and also reduces the need for WHG/Frank/Biz to get minutes. The front court rotation once everyone was healthy would be something like Love/Cody + MKG/Marv. Lamb would move to the 3rd scoring option, which is a better role for him. Etc.

I don't know if I could convince myself to stomach the risk of that contract. Love has a lot of red flags for a potential steep decline due to his age, injury history, and player archetype. However, there really aren't a lot of good options for this team and if the front office could leverage his contract/injury issues to not give up much real value to acquire him, there is at least some real upside to acquiring him in a deal for Batum.

Kemba/Graham/Parker
Lamb/Monk
Miles/Bacon
Love/MKG
Cody/Marv/Biz

I have never been a fan of Kevin Love, but the Hornets have limited options, thanks to the salary obligations taken on by Mr. Cho.

I actually don't know if it's a good idea to trade for Love.
I don't know neither if it was what Kemba had in mind when he says he trusts Kupchak to make the right move.

BUUUUT... this guy played with LeBron James, he knows what it is to gain the title. He knows what it is to be under the lights every games. He could be helpful, I know we already have Parker for this, but, the more players with experience we get, the better.

Because, in fine, that's what this team lacks the most... Experience.

PS: If we could get Tristant Thompson + K.Love for Batum + Biyombo. We'll be somewhere.

I'd give them Bacon + 2nd round pick (And JP Macura just for fun)

Is that enough ?

I don't know, with the monster contract of Kevin Love, I don't even know if we should be the team adding picks here...

Teams shouldn’t be adding picks but I think cavs management would be looking for a little return. Even though the contract is negative we only just signed him so we value him as an “ all star”.

I’m sure that’ll change and we’d take anything of neatest value or a bit less but there’s still a saving face timeline imo.

Also doubt love gets moved until he’s showcased he can play a little and stay on the court.

I can't take two more seasons of Nic Batum on this roster. I just can't.
