Charlotte 2020 Big Board - Pick #8

Post#1 » by BigSlam » Sat Oct 17, 2020 1:26 pm

With the draft just over a month away I thought it a good time to get our big board up and going for this year.

We'll keep each picks thread open for a few days before I or another mod tally the votes, lock the thread and open the next pick thread.

Pick #1 = Wiseman (37% out of 30 total votes)
Pick #2 = Okongwu (48% out of 27 total votes)
Pick #3 = Edwards (45% out of 20 total votes)
Pick #4 = Ball (37% out of 27 total votes)
Pick #5 = Hayes (46% out of 26 total votes)
Pick #6 = Haliburton (48% of 25 total votes)
Pick #7 = Avdija (58% of 17 total votes)

And for those keeping score at home: I've moved the prospect order to follow the Tankathon mock so guys like Pokuševski are a selection sooner rather than later.

This draft isn't very friendly for the 10 option limit. None of the above for me.
My picks:
2020 Draft (3rd pick) - Tyrese Haliburton, Devin Vassell, or Onyeka Okongwu
2021 Draft (11th pick) - Moses Moody

Vassell again though I could understand a Toppin pick here on sheer offensive talent alone

I'd rather these 10

Tyrell Terry
Tyler Bey
Patrick Williams
Devin Vassell
Jalen Smith
Devon Dotson
JaDen McDaneils
Leandro Balmaro
Josh Green
Saddiq Bey

Those imo are better prospects than the experts have them.

I don't know what you guys are seeing in Vassell. Its not like FSU is even a good pipeline for guys who develop well after college either.

https://basketball.realgm.com/ncaa/conferences/Atlantic-Coast-Conference/1/Florida-State/32/nba-players

this list is sad for a program that isn't struggling for money

Voted Cole Anthony though. That injury is old news now and he's more skilled Edwards across the board. Only reason his stock even fell was because of his season getting cut short but that was ages ago.

Went with Vassell again. It's interesting seeing that's this is where we would have picked if we didn't move up. I'm really glad we did when seeing the remaining options.

Vassell is like 3rd or 4th for me out of these remaining guys. Not really into it.

I actually like Maxey as a Devonte Graham Lite and potential to develop into a decent 6th man off the bench

I kinda like that you have added players that many of us have not shown an interest in because it keeps this poll going longer I "think".

Vassell screams role player at best. Okoro is very limited right now but has a higher ceiling.

I would vote for Saddiq Bey here
6’8 wing who can defend shoot 3s at 40%+
capable of secondary playmaking and fine Villy pedigree
since he’s not on the list I’ll vote Patrick Williams

Vassel seems like the closest thing to a sure fire 3 and D in this draft. Not exactly what I'm going for at 3, but among the folks on the board now I'd go with him.

He reminds me a little of Paul George.

Vassell reminds me of Courtney Lee with potentially better defense

All I know is that I'm so glad we got #3 because the odds were that we would pick here at 8 among this group.
