Present Team Vs. Past Team(s)

Post#1 » by Roll Tide 09 » Fri May 28, 2021 6:52 am

Dating back to the 2004 season, which of the past Charlotte teams do you feel would have taken on a healthy 2020-2021 Charlotte team in a seven game series and been most competitive and which team do you think would have been swept...no questions asked?

15-16 Hornets
09-10 Bobcats- our best team but faced the worst possible matchup for us in the first round

This was our third best team

Now with continued LaMelo growth, that should end very quickly

Agreed and neither of those teams had any long term upside to look beyond. Those teams were at their peak here as this one is just at the beginning

We've had teams that have 1-2 All-Star caliber players and had solid support players, the issue has always been our star players are either not that great or don't fit together. Or both.

Kemba, as we see now, is actually the 2nd or 3rd best player on a top team. He was our main star for years.

Al Jefferson was a very good offensive player, but his defense sucked. He also didn't fit with Kemba. The opposite was Dwight.

Wallace and Okafor were both great defenders, but mediocre offensive players.

Hopefully now we have some players who are both higher upside and fit together. Ball, Miles and hopefully whoever we draft next.

The closest we’ve had to two all stars since the reboot were Wallace and Jackson and they both would’ve been fringe. Kemba and Al’s timelines weren’t close enough for them both to be all star caliber. Al’s career was practically over by the time Kemba reached All star status.

We have a future all star in LaMelo but I’m not sure anyone else on this roster can reach it at the same time. Miles has an outside chance though if we got a whole season that looked like his April.
