I love it, great athlete, blocks shots and runs like a deer. I think his floor is WCS

Probably telling Dean has him in Tier 3 with Kai Jones not even earning a mention.

Re: 2021 Draft Prospect: Isaiah Jackson
Everyone thought the Pistons reached on Isaiah Stewart last year was the same thing and then all of a sudden the dude is hitting 3's and looking like Clint Capela out there
I don't know, there's just something about him and the way he moves that I trust way more than Kai Jones, and his wingspan/speed on defense are much better than Sengun which makes me think he can switch on the perimeter

Re: 2021 Draft Prospect: Isaiah Jackson
He has better length and frame to be a full time 5 than Kai. Kai is more mobile, but Jackson still looks like he has good mobility. He also just has fewer question marks in general imo. Kai might have a bit more upside, but he seems like a pretty big wild card and I really don't have much more faith in him developing a much more versatile offensive game than what people are expecting from Jackson.
I don't see a lot of star potential so far among guys in our range. I like guys like Moody and Wagner, but they also seem likely to be limited to being high end role players, so I'd be totally fine with just taking the high end role player that fills our biggest need, which seems like it would be Jackson. I don't think the higher upside guys like Sengun or Giddy will make it to 11.

How so? He's much more thinner and wiry than Jones and is currently 20lbs lighter than Jones - and doesn't look like he has the body type to add more bulk/muscle?
He (Jackson) also just has fewer question marks in general imo.
He has a problem biting on fakes always chasing blocks and is also prone to fouling (a LOT).
Outside of rim running, put backs and alley oops he literally has zero offensive game. He had 2 3PA's for the entire season (missing them both).
Kai might have a bit more upside, but he seems like a pretty big wild card and I really don't have much more faith in him developing a much more versatile offensive game than what people are expecting from Jackson.
Jones has already shown an ability to use a jab step from the triple threat position, lead the break, have great footwork, shoot 3's (30 attempts last season hitting on 37% of them), utilize an effective Euro step AND do all the other things that Jackson is limited to doing (rim running, put backs and alley oops).
I'd be totally fine with just taking the high end role player that fills our biggest need
I totally disagree.
I think this might be our last "swing for the fences" draft in a while (if Melo keeps improving as does Miles and hopefully Monk/PJ as well). So let's swing hard. We swung last year and it worked out amazingly - let's give it one more swing and see if we can go back to back and land a super high upside prospect that pays off and, with Melo and Miles see if they can lead us for the next 5+ years to top 4 seeding.
I think Jackson is a super limited, high energy role player at best who has significant holes in his game.

Re: 2021 Draft Prospect: Isaiah Jackson
Him and LaMelo played high school together for 1 season at Spire Academy.
Jackson is the better shot blocker out of him and Jones. However does shot blocking matter that much? I think being able to switch on the perimeter is more important as a big (Bam, Draymond) rather than blocking some shots, but giving up floater after floater like Brook Lopez has against Atlanta.
Jones looks like a smoother athlete and he has shown more offensive potential.
I would be hard pressed to take Jackson over Kai, let alone at 11.

I've got Kai over Jackson, but I like them both. Would love to trade back with OKC and get 16 & 18, seems like one of them will be there at 16. Neither player is super NBA ready or has a high floor so it would be nice to get an extra pick in that range to pair with them if we could

Re: 2021 Draft Prospect: Isaiah Jackson
What do people think of JT Thor in comparison to Jackson/Kai?
Thor doesnt turn 19 til August, had the same standing reach as Kai, averaged more blocks and made more 3s in his freshman year than Kai made in two seasons. He doesn't look quite as athletic as either Kai or Jackson to me and he doesn't rebound or block shots as well as Jackson, but I think you could potentially make a case for him over both players.

I mean, *shrug*
Just about every big outside of those top 3-5 is going to be some variation of rolling the dice. It really just depends on what you're looking for and if they happen to get lucky enough to reach your desired endstate.
I would tend to err towards the more athletic, bouncy, run/jump kind of guys because I want the defensive range from that spot if you can't guarantee they'll be a high profile scorer/facilitator

Don't know. Why don't you start a JT Thor thread and ask there?

We brought him in twice, take that Kai
Really seems like Kupchak is targeting trading back or picking up another late first/early 2nd round pick

Did we bring him in twice? I have not seen him listed for multiple workouts. I think this guy might be misinformed.

For what it's worth - a snippet from NBA Draft's latest extended mock:
"Rumor has it the Hornets are high on Kentucky center Isaiah Jackson, who they could trade down 5-7 or so spots to target."
