The players just aren't buying in and there is no effort.

At some point the players need to actually play defense though right?

I mean, Borrego ain't out on the floor. He's not out there giving half ass effort. Defense is every bit as much about effort as it is skill. The dudes on the floor need to man the **** up and stop playing pretty.

You can't tell me it's a coach issue when Cody Martin is demonstrably better on defense than anyone else on the roster (save Thor in spot minutes), and it's 100% because he actually gives a ****. The rest of the guys look like they play D just so they can turn around and run down the floor as soon as they can.

if all the guys were working hard and still getting scored on then sure, call it a coaching or scheme issue, but until then, Borrego gets a pass from me.

Whilst we have no all-world defenders our problem is 90% attitude and effort, as well as some bad defensive schemes from the coach.

Too many guys happy to just be out there jacking up threes as long as they get theirs on that end of the floor each night. They don't care if the other team gets 130-140 as long as they get their 15-20 points a night. Hornets giving up on plays once it is not a 50/50 because I'd hate to be on a poster or made to look like a fool so I'll make a business decision to get out of the way.

It's the same thing with holding back from taking a half court heaves at the end of quarters to protect FG%. Too worried about protecting their stats and not becoming posters rather than increasing their chances of winning the game. Loser mentalities.

It pains my heart to see miles compared to Wallace on defense. Slam, really? I get Wallace was best as off ball help guy, but his energy effort etc... were so much better, more consistent. He was better man defender, better defending up and better off ball.

Miles is not a good defender at any part of the game at any position. He simply has memorable highlights few times a game on blocks etc...

it felt like just last week i was reading comments about how this is the best charlotte team for 30 years, the most exciting team to watch.

now we're all on suicide watch. its definitely a roller coaster season.

i'm not angry at the front office, the team needed talent, they've done well at getting it.
now they have to fine tune it

I still think it can be. We just need to find more balance and an attitude that they don't want to be scored on. An astute roster tweak before the trade deadline might not hurt either.

It’s the best Charlotte team since the expansion, yes. But that’s why it’s so frustrating seeing this team underperform and some of that is because there needs to be a tweak to the rotation and to the roster.

Martin needs to start. Thor needs to be in the rotation. We also need a Center who is respected on defense and can get his points on offense…if/when needed.

2010 and 2016 hornets were better teams than this one. You could also argue 2014.

Most talented team. Unfortunately, being a talented team doesn't always mean you're a good team.

The All-NBA Al Jefferson team would eat this team for breakfast. And that's just Al.
