What a crock of merde. Hornets level of communication here is pathetic. Frankly we come off as some aloof quasi-eccentric club team verses a world class franchise. JMO.
I continue to wait...and hope...for the return to Hornet's glory.

Lol surely we'll have a new coach and staff by summer league. Right....?

at this point just give the team to jay hernandez and try again next summer. or relocate the swarm coach to charlotte. or let paul silas call plays from his season ticket seats with his wife as assistant coach. and dont forget buzz was a college coach, lets give him a shot. why the **** not.

If we still don't have a coach by Monday, I'm fine with promoting Jay Hernandez as the head coach. He and Mitch have Long Island roots and the front office won't have to give him a huge raise to fill in the position.

Maybe the most surprising scenario to cross my desk so far this week comes from the coaching front. There is some serious mounting buzz that former Hornets coach Steve Clifford, who already coached in Charlotte for five seasons and took Michael Jordan’s team to the playoffs twice, has emerged as a candidate to make a return to the Queen City as Jordan scrambles to fill the massive void on his bench following Kenny Atkinson’s shock decision to stay in Golden State as an assistant. Mike D’Antoni, Charlotte’s only other known finalist before it struck a deal with Atkinson, was scheduled to meet with Jordan this week. I reported earlier this week that the Hornets remain expected to hire a successor to James Borrego who has prior head coaching experience. Clifford was a coaching consultant to Steve Nash in Brooklyn this season after a three-season stint (with two playoff appearances) coaching Orlando.

NO. ****. WAY.

All things considered, Clifford is probably the best coach the Hornets have ever had. Larry Brown is the most successful in his career and Dave Cowens had the most successful seasons, but Clifford did more with less.

That said, gracious what an embarrassment this would be.

Although the Hornets don’t officially have a head coach just yet, all indications are pointing to Mike D’Antoni landing the job, league sources told The Charlotte Observer. The situation can still unravel after the Hornets learned that Kenny Atkinson backed out to remain an assistant with Golden State a week after agreeing to terms. But hiring D’Antoni is the direction it’s trending.

I hope that's true and not a case of Boone speaking too soon

Clifford doesn't fit in today's NBA, and the Nets had historically bad coaching this season which doesn't speak well to hiring a guy off their staff

Meanwhile MDA had a big turnaround with the Pelicans and they played the Suns well in the playoffs

Yeah that whole coaching line of JVG, SVG, Thibodeau and Clifford needs to go the way of the dodo. They just don't fit as head coaches in today's NBA.

Why is this team so hell-bent on having a coach with prior head coaching experience?!?

I thought we already got punked last Saturday, do we really need to be punked again less than a week later?

How about we hold a contest and let the best super-fan coach the team. Let's get Sombraro man up in there on the bench. Or let Slam get his moment to shine if he can relocate.

Well, we aren't the only team going into the draft without a coach, so we can take comfort in that

if nothing else they need to hire a coach just to get someone else to start laying out the vision for the next Hornets team, because you're not getting a single superfluous word out of Kupchak on the subject.

I know assistants often coach SL games, but surely a 1st year coach with a new team would want to be there at SL - and maybe even coach the games themsleves?

If we don't already have it sorted out, I think that means MDA doesn't want the job. If he did, he'd already be signed.

But please don't hire Clifford. If we want a defensive coach, get Vogel.

Utah doesn't have a coach either. At least we aren't alone in this.
