Mike dunlap is a alsoran...what does being an asst coach on a college team do to prepare anyone for being a head coach in the NBA...there are a long list of highly qualified college coaches that failed in the hot seat with better teams than the bobcats. Ugh

I think that's sorta the point though...no pressure.

No, in the end it comes down to Cho running a complete coaching search and picking the guy he liked best with MJ putting his trust in Cho. Plus, even if it was about the money, can you really blame it on MJ? Why pay a premium for a coach with the current team we have and knowing the current position of this team? It wouldn't make any business sense. We all know were 2-3 years away, so what's the point? To me it comes down to MJ doing the RIGHT thing. He's clearly listening to the man he hired to do the job.

This is exactly how I feel. We grabbed a guy that will teach our youngsters to play basketball. Seems to fit with "the plan"

absolute crap. Like KW said, signing the expensive Brown was a MJ move.

This stinks of Cho and I like it.

We don't know that MJ shot down every coach Cho recommended until he found one in his price range.

With the hiring of Dunlap, does that mean #bobcats will take Drummond or MKG, two high-potential projects?

Especially with the signing of that Assist Coach who has a knack for reaching players.

more like it was predicated by MJ's unwillingness to pay for a real coach. It's not like there's not already A+ coaching prospects in the league

The first thing every coach says is always wanting to run an up-tempo offense. I am appalled by this hire. Pray he proves me wrong.

What the **** does Mike Dunlap have to prove to you??

Look at his credentials.

Interesting Dunlap-Jordan connection. Dunlap was a grad assistant under George Raveling at USC. Raveling and MJ are tight. May have helped.

We hired Dunlap for the lulz, you guys realize this right? Hiring Shaw or Quinn would not produce enough lulz.

Charlotte Bobcats director of scouting Scott Howard also worked with Mike Dunlap at Iowa -- both worked for Raveling.

I dismissed this guy just like everyone else when I heard he was an initial candidate but I've just been researching him and it blows my mind.

I am behind him one hundred percent and am definitely on the bandwagon.

As for the personnell talks I believe it would have been Cho,MJ & Higgins laying out the plan for the slow rebuild.

Better than Snyder. I'm down with anybody George Karl is cool with which is weird b/c I normally despise the UNC connection but Karl is an OG.

Still, can't believe we passed Sloan over for this.

I love how Mike Dunlap isn't a REAL coach for some of you. Do other guys have more NBA experience? Sure. But what happens if Dunlap is the next Scott Brooks? Will he not be a real coach then? I mean a coach is a coach. He fits where this team is now, fits what this team needs now, and he can grow with the team. Not the guy I would had picked, but he's not a bad candidate. Everyone that know's him can attest to that. He certainly IS a REAL coach, that's for sure.
