Good. Would had been fine with 3 years as well, but 2 years is perfect. Not lets hope its 2 years at 7 million.

That would be an excellent signing.

So we signed him outright? No S&T?

The length is perfect, now let's see the price. I'd be fine with something like 2/8 or 2/9. 2/10 is my "eh" point

I hope it's back-loaded. With Diop and Carroll coming off the books next year, that would be the great time to throw some money around.

I would be happy if it was 2 years and 10 million, as long as it is just 2 years, which it is.

Great pick up. Was worried like others that the deal would reach past 3 years.

What a stupid statement to make.

Now Slam...I don't think it's stupid at all. I don't put the DJ pick as the worst...hardly. But after Morrison, Ajinca, May, who would be worse? The context is the value of the pick position, relative to other available players, relative to the production gained from the player picked, relative to the value returned to the team after their departure. DJ had a few moments for sure, but he never produced relative to his draft tier, and getting nothing for him adds insult to the injury.

JMHO.

Yeah. When you let your lotto pick walk for nothing to sign for a measely $3.5 mil with another team and the player you passed on for him for in the draft just received multiple max offer sheets, its time to admit that draft pick was a mistake.

Dude, we offered DJ much more than he took. He took less than the QO and less than we put on the table. Bottom line is he wanted out of Charlotte.

I think you're misunderstanding me. I'm not shedding any tears over DJ leaving. I'm glad he was foolish enough to stop us from overpaying to keep him. We all know he didnt want to be here and now he's gone. And he left alot more $ on the table than he's probably ever going to see again.

My point is that the fact that best offer/situation he could find on the open market was a 1 yr $3.5 mil deal backing up George Hill is pretty telling. And it makes defending DJ's selection over Lopez, which a few folks are still keen to do, look even more outrageous when his aforementioned signing coincides with Lopez getting maxed

I'd rather lose DJ for nothing than pay Lopez the max

Very true. Lopez at $10 mil per is good. Lopez at $15 mil per is not.

I'm not nor ever have been in favor of maxing Lopez either. Feel he is a $10 mil per year, maybe even a $12 mil per year (for another team trying to lure him) type center. But the point remains that multiple teams, including us were interested in Lopez for the max and Lopez' value far exceeds DJ's.

Passing on Lopez was a terrible mistake that several of us recognized the moment is happened on draft night. I baffles me how a few folks still cant admit that.

Letting DJ walk and losing him for nothing is the right move. The mistake the led us to this point back on draft night 2008 was not the right move.

i always said id be super pissed off if we ended up losing DJ for nothing but gaining Sessions for equally nothing pretty much negates that. We upgraded the team today

Never said it wasn't a mistake. Wanting Brook was pretty unanimous that year.
Also never said DJ has anywhere near the value that Brook does.

But if never having Lopez in the first place means we don't sign him to a max deal, then I'm cool with that, as bass-ackwards as that may be.

Have wanted Sessions to be a bobcat for a long time - this is a great pickup he is a beast

Correct me if I'm wrong, but I think with DJ's departure, we now have a roster where every player can dunk -- which should be a requirement for a team owned by MJ

You're not one of the folks I'm alluding to Swedd. The majority of us were upset at passing on Lopez at the time but it was far from unanimous. There were several DJ supporters.

I think Sessions is going to surprise alot of people. A distributer of his caliber is really going to be a godsend for guys like Mullens

I wasn't a DJ supporter but I was definitely a Lopez hater.

theoretically Matt Carroll should be able to dunk but I'd need proof. He has absolutely no hops

this is the closest i could find and its hilarious

Hated Lopez, didn't care for DJ, I wanted Jason Thompson or Bayless.
