Is this about the "assessment" of Bonnell on our players?

@rick_bonnell

If I ranked Bobcats assets, it would be this: 1. Kemba. 2. Sessions. 3. Mullens. 4. Henderson. 5. Kidd-Gilchrist

@liverpooty

@rick_bonnell Looks like a ranking of their best players and not necessarily their best assets.

‏@liverpooty

@rick_bonnell Just speaking about overall potential. I can't see MKG being our fifth best asset so Ill have to disagree with you on that.

I am surprised more people are not onto bonnell about that bone headed comment, I guess everyone is asleep. :D

You guys don't want to see it, but in the league, amongst those who evaluate talent, MKG is not a valued as you think he is. Yee s he is young, but people are now seeing where he fits in the pecking order based on his play. He will get better, but right now you couldn't trade him for a top 5 pick in the upcoming draft.

Now, back to the deadline. The developments around the Nets saying NO DEAL for Gordon is a bummer. I seriously doubt we are a player for Smith, and I do not think anyone is giving us a 1st round pick for Hendo. Unless Cho is really working something with the Jazz (who are always tight-lipped on trades) we may have nothing but a minor deal today. I believe there is demand for Sessions but the value back may be minimal.
I continue to wait...and hope...for the return to Hornet's glory.

I don't have a good feeling about this deadilne, never did.

We do have some assets but I agree with Bassman - they're not worth much.

Best fits

Ben Gordon - Spurs
Gerald Henderson - Pacers
Ramon Sessions - Celtics

We'd be lucky to come out with 2 late firsts, DeJuan Blair and cap space.

What about something like this? I know it's a bit messy, but I'll try to explain it:

http://espn.go.com/nba/tradeMachine?tradeId=beprrb8

CATS out:
Hendo+Reggie Williams+Sessions+Portland pick
CATS in: Rip Hamilton+Hinrich+Perry JonesIII+Daniel Orton+own 1st rounder from CHI (TT trade)

Why? Easy: Maybe I'm a homer here and it's a full win for the Cats... exchanging Hendo and Sessions and the late first rounder for a declined value in Rip and Hinrich, but getting Perry Jones and our valuable 1st rounder for 2014. We won't have any backup PG-s, but we can handle that situation easily.

CHI out:
Hamilton+Hinrich+CHA 1st rounder
CHI in: Henderson+R. Williams+Maynor+OKC 1st rounder

Why? They want to save money this year, with this move they could save 0,8mill. In addition they upgrade at SG, and since Hinrich is a failed experiment for them, they reduce the bill with Maynor's expiring conract (same with Rip-Hendo). They save a lot of money this year and the next with acquiring talent and the only backside is the valuable 1st rounder (maybe top5 next year), which they trade down for a 27-29. pick this year.

OKC out:
Maynor+Orton+Perry JonesIII+OKC 1st rounder
OKC in: Sessions+Portland 1st rounder (2013 or 2014)

Why? They get the proven backup PG they are longing for, upgrading their late-late 1st rounder for a 13.-15. this year, or if the Portland make a downfall, probably a lottery pick next year. They can push for the title even more with Sessions this year, and the only real price is Perry JonesIII. Not one they can not sacrifice, with Ibaka and Durant... :)

Thoughts? Too complex? Dumb? :)

Gordon would never get off the bench for Pop because he's never played defense.

Indiana doesn't need Henderson at all.

Sessions to Boston makes sense though.

@WojYahooNBA: Lakers offering Steve Blake, Chris Duhon, Devin Ebanks, Darius Morris for 2nd-rounders, sources say. Looking to unload, free roster spots.

@WojYahooNBA: Orlando has secured offers of first-round picks for J.J. Redick, sources tell Y! Sports. So far, those belong to teams drafting in the 20's.

@sam_amick: Oklahoma City has been seeking first-rounder for PG Eric Maynor, but no takers so far.

If Redick is attracting first round picks in the 20's then Gerald Henderson for a first rounder is not happening. And the Nets don't want Gordon.

I think Sessions is the most likely to be dealt. Wait out the Celtics.

Apparently according to Bonnell our 2nd overall pick who has more upside than anyone on the roster is our 5th best asset. How the hell is this guy still writing for the Observer?

this is one of the most idiotic things i have seen bonnell write. does he really believe that gerald henderson, who can cant give away for a mid-late 1st round pick has more value than MKG? on what planet does that make sense?

perhaps he should have not used the word "assets" and instead used "best players on the team as of this exact moment in time"

i see a lot of crazy optimism in this thread. we arent trading for josh smith or kevin love or eric gordon. if that is your expectations for today, you are going to be very disappointed.

Trade deadline so far = teams trying to dump their garbage and asking too much for 1/2 season of stars heading for free agency.

Houston seems like the only team executing a plan. I bet they score Josh Smith.

@WojYahooNBA: If Brooklyn doesn't do a deal for Josh Smith -- and Nets are a long-shot -- they'll probably do nothing at the deadline, sources tell Y!
