MrKnowItAll215's Mock (even though I'm aware that this draft is a total crapshoot)

1. Cavaliers - Ben McLemore: my reasoning is Chris Grant; expect the unexpected
2. Magic - Victor Oladipo: if the Afflalo-Bledsoe deal go thru SG will be a glaring hole
3. Wizards - Otto Porter: local product that can contribute right away & play a position they need
4. Bobcats - Nerlens Noel: BPA fulfills a need; stash & come away with the steal of the draft in 2014
5. Suns - Anthony Bennett: Phoenix need talent & Bennett might have the highest upside
6. Pelicans - C.J. McCollum: a combo guard that can adapt whether Gordon or Vasquez goes
7. Kings - Alex Len: Sacramento need a C in case Cousins bolts
8. Pistons - Trey Burke: local product that'll end Detroit's streak of trying to make SG's PG's
9. Timberwolves - Kentavious Caldwell-Pope: Minnesota needs a SG & KCP has potential to be a steal
10. Trailblazers - Steven Adams: Trailblazers has lacked legitimate size since Oden's knees crumbled

My draft day top 4

1. Noel
I think he has the highest cealling of all prospects, and plays the position hardest to fill

2. Maclemore

Probably the best player of this draft. Fits our needs perfectly.

3. Zeller
I am all for drafting Zeller. Have been since the NCAA season started. He also fits with our core. Is athletic, can shoot, can play in the post, can play pick and roll. Almost a perfect big man. In my mind because Zeller demanded so much attention down low, Oladipo could become a better player, but Zeller was the focus of every opposing team defense. That in my mind makes him a better player than Oladipo. Why has his stock fallen? Because he had a couple of bad games in the tournament? Then why is anyone outside of Burks still projected in the lottery? Bottom line is Zeller is a skilled athletic 7 footer, how many of those are in the NBA?

4. Len

Actually I only have a top 3, taking Len seems like a thing to do if other 3 are not there.

Oh and just to be on the record.

5.
6.

100. Bennett
A tweener! go through draft history on NBAdraft.net and you will find a lot of busts, who were great PF/SF scorers, that could play big or small. And they had a wingspan that will compensate for their lack of height. Pass please.

If it goes Len, Noel, Bennett then I would think Charlotte picks McLemore unless a killer deal comes along for MKG in which case Porter will be selected. I think the Bobcats would be very happy with McLemore and MKG.

I don't see a post game from Zeller at all. He is far from perfect big man. He is athletic, which I like. He has a good mid range game and a decent rebounder. Bennett is just as athletic, if not more. He has more range and skill that translate to the NBA. He can handle the ball and is very aggressive with the ball. This guy can score in multiple ways unlike Zeller. You can't isolate Zeller on the wing and let him take his man one on one like Bennett can. Yes he is shorter, but his reach and athletic ability even that out. The Cats need front court scoring and Bennett provides that along with rebounding. If Bennett played Zeller one on one, Bennett would destroy him. Zeller is a nice role player. Bennett has star ability.

Based on what?

Mostly based on me not being really impressed with Hendo. I like that he's been a good guy and played well enough on some of the Cat's bad teams ... but he's never really struck me as a guy who can change games on either end of the court that well. He feels really average to me overall.

I have nothing scientific on Oladipo but my sense is that he's more of a game changer on the defensive end. Plus his play style seems to fit better with the current 3 & D nature of the NBA. If the rules change again maybe Hendo would be the better fit, but for now if I had to make a bet, I would be on Oladipo.
My picks:
2020 Draft (3rd pick) - Tyrese Haliburton, Devin Vassell, or Onyeka Okongwu
2021 Draft (11th pick) - Moses Moody

Im getting a little tired of redreshing 5 different twitter accounts. One trade needs to be announced and then that should start a trickle effect.

another trade target for cho if he wants to move back.

That is a perfect spot to trade back to if Charlotte wants to go that route. What could we get from them though?

kings dont have many attractive pieces to offer. they have jason thompson on a big deal 4 years left at around 6.5 per average. they have marcus thornton with about 2 years left for about 8 per.

they owe a protected pick to the cavs, so i dont think they can trade a future pick until that one is sent to cavs.

evans is a RFA so he is out.

they have patterson, but he sucks.

meh

Can't trade for Cousins right now anyway since he is restricted. Can't do sign and trades on draft night I don't believe. Thompson would help our front court, but Id want more than that.

i like thompson, but i am not sure i like him at 4 years 25 mil. that seems less like an asset and more like a liability.

That's about what we would have to pay in free agency anyway to get a half decent big. He averaged 11 and 7 last season playing 27 minutes a game. Its something id be interested in depending on who is at 7.
